Friday June 14th 2013 Money, Mystery and Murder. The three M’s that always intrigues a person to know more about the situation. The three M’s are all characteristics of the novel. To determine the differences between the novel and the movie, you first have to know the plot and be able to identify the characters. In this essay, the plot will be distinguished as well as the characters and the overall differences between the novel and the movie.
The novel takes places in Trenton, New Jersey where we first meet Stephanie Plum, a young single broke woman. After losing her job as a lingerie buyer, Stephanie needs cash-fast- but times are tough, and soon she is forced to turn to the last resort of the truly desperate: her cousin Vinnie. Stephanie lands a job at her sleazy cousin Vinnie’s bail-bonding company as a bounty hunter. She has no experience, but that doesn’t matter. Neither does the fact that the bail jumper in question is local cop Joe Morelli. Stephanie Plum is two years younger than Joseph Morelli and lived two blocks over from her when they were younger. When they were younger they had sexual relations which lead to Stephanie running Joe over and breaking his leg. Clearly this case was not going to be a dull one. Joseph Morelli was worth $100,000 which ten percent of that would go to Stephanie if he was captured dead or alive. She finds him several times but cannot take him into custody because she does not have a gun so Stephanie asks another bounty hunter Ranger for help. The reason Joseph Morelli has a warrant out for his arrest is because he shot and killed a guy named Ziggy Kuleza (in self-defense). That night Carmen Sanchez called Joe concerning a police matter, going to help Carmen this all happened. At this point, Stephanie didn’t have a car, so her grandmother gave her “the blue nova” and eventually
