one important decision in my life
Gao Kao
Gao Kao is really important to every Chinese student. It means that the college entrance exam in English. It likes the SAT Reasoning Test in the United States. However, in many areas the two tests have many differences. First, SAT consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. Gao Kao consists of four major sections: Chinese, Mathematics, English and Science Subjects or Liberal Arts. Second, the biggest difference between Gao Kao and SAT is the SAT is offered seven times a year in the United States, in October, November, December, January, March and June. (College Board.com) However, Gao Kao is offered only one time every year on June 7, 8.And Gao Kao is the sole determinant for admission to virtually all Chinese colleges and universities. About three in five students make the cut. This is why Gao Kao is so important in China. Every June in china, the most important and attention affair is Gao Kao.
Every student, who will take this special test, is more or less feeling nervous. After all, after many years hard work, this test will decide your future. You should not have a little lapse. Only one point may lead you can not go to your idea university. The competition is so intense. One Chinese saying compares the exam to a stampede of “a thousand soldiers and ten horses across a single log bridge.” Actually, I do not think Gao Kao is reasonable, and that is so cruel to us. If you failed this year, you need to wait one year to take the test again. In addition, there are no enough good universities for such amount students. For every high school students, Gao Kao is their life. That is really important to them. It changed so many high school students life. Like many other Chinese high students, Gao Kao also changed my academic life. My high school is a famous key high school in Shaanxi province. When I was in high school, I was a good student. I worked so hard every day, especially in the third year. In the last year of high

This exigence interests me because from young, I’ve always had to study and prepare for standardized tests. In China, tests represent whether we get into a good middle school, a good high school, and a good college. We can be the best in our class, but without scoring high on the placement tests, we’ll never get into a good school. The same was here, in high school, junior year was all about testing and studying for the ACTs or the SATs. There was too much pressure placed on just the standardized tests.…

My Name is april june and I am 21 years old. I was born right at the crack of dawn on September 3rd 1992 in MA. Currently, I still live in Worcester just up the block from Worcester State University. I attend Quinsigamond Community College and at the moment I am in General Studies taking general classes to help get my GPA up until I figure out what I would like to do for the rest of my life. I live in a pretty averaged size apartment with just my mother Angel. I am the “baby” of two older sisters named Danielle and Amanda. One of them just recently getting engaged and ready to start her life, and the other one has three children the youngest being one years old. My mother and father separated when I was about two years old so I was raised by my mother, father and step mother while growing up. Both of my parents completed high school and never went to college so they were not the type of parents who pushed college careers nor did they have any sort of fund for us to be able to go. Of course after high school when I decided to attend college, they are very proud and supportive for me to finish. When I began college, my mom also went back to college after seeing me and my sister do it, and she got a health and human service degree at the age of 40. My parents came from middle class families and on my mothers side, very few of my family members were college graduates. We often had no spending money or even good running vehicles but they always gave us love and we were happy with all of the small things we had. My parents used the permissive parenting style, at least for me and my sister; they never really used any type of punishments. They would tell us we were grounded from something but the next day we would be doing the things we were grounded from. We were always nurtured and my parents were easy t...…

It is difficult for me to explain a situation that has impacted my life. When God created the earth he decided that every person would be different, some big others small, some thick others thin. He also decided that everyone would have different behaviors. Some people would be shy and calm with little talking, while others the total opposite loud and more extravagant. Between all these categories I represent the shy and calm, for this reason it is very hard for me to express an impacting moment in my life. The most impacting moment in my life occurred many years ago when I started living my life fully and felt complete. My parents decided to register me to a public school in the city Guayama and I did not dominate well the language Spanish. For me this news was very impacting. One of the reasons I was scared of learning a second language I didnt dominate, another reason was losing all the friends I had made and had kept me company for many years but the major reason was leaving the house in the military base Roosevelt roads.…
