Democratic states are more informed and the people will therefore be more aware of problems and want the states to take action. (reference?)
Democratic states are more focused on global crisis as one of the basics for a democratic state is the idea that the population needs to be informed, educated and enlightened. It’s therefore usually promoted to have easy access to news and information. With technological advances this has become more prominent as we now can receive news at almost any location on the globe. This nation state is one of the largest players in global politics, being a part of the permanent members of the UN security council and while protecting their own state in manners of economy and nationality, they are still one of the most important countries, when it comes to solving global problems.(reference) While they have been against improving pollution wise, it’s not the only country not just accepting the bills to improve the environment of the world. Every country has an interest regarding pollution, as not polluting is more expensive in short term. Denmark, while not going against a global legislation, has recently put the same taxes on electrical cars as regular cars, making electrical cars too expensive to be beneficial economy wise for the consumer, at least for the layman in the next couple of years. This causes politicians to focus on subjects and ideas that are popular and will cause them to be elected for multiple periods (reference). This is a major problem for global problems, as they are often long term, slowly manifested problems. They are often described as “unsexy” or not something that will cause a politician to be reelected. Global pollution is something that has been on the mind of the public for the last 40 years at least, but it has not been something politicians would talk about for the longest amount of time. The fact, that the subject is not as attractive as lower taxes or better infrastructure means, that politicians can avoid talking about it. This, can be argued, is especially true for some right wing people, where, while a stereotype, many will more often think about profit and money, rather than responsibility and the environment.
So far, I have argued, that democratic states may not be the only one to solve global problems. However, I have not argued, that any other type of state is better. The closest is that China actually is becoming more aware of their responsibility in a global context
