Opposing Strategies Of Reading Aloud To Myself
The two proof reading strategies that I use are reading aloud to myself, and reads aloud to someone else. When reading aloud to myself, I am able to pick up on words and phrases that don’t sound accurate enough. I am able to examine how my personal essay flows throughout each word choice, focus on the structure of each sentence length, and cohesiveness. Reading aloud to someone else provides me with more perspective of my writing to someone else before I believe it’s finished. If I can read my personal essay aloud, and my reader turned listener can visualize everything from characteristics, to scenery, then I am utilizing descriptive writing meticulously. Reading aloud to myself can sometimes lead to a fixed mindset on the paper with the absence constructive criticism. Each strategy is beneficial as it requires you to proofread your personal essay. When reading aloud, I personally feel less vulnerable to distractions, sharpening my focus to my proofreading, and an increase in comprehension of what the writer was trying to say in every given paragraph. The drawbacks from reading aloud to someone else could be false interpretation of what my personal essay was about, or feedback citizens your writing style and your tone. Some individuals are auditory learners while some are visual or tactile leaners and that can play a huge role in their concentration to my story rather than reading it themselves. Furthermore, the writer could miss out on the reader pointing out grammatical errors, punctuation, etc. before the final essay is finished.
