Optimism Many people don’t know what it means to be optimistic, and the benefits of it. Optimism is the tendency to expect and see the best in all things. There are many benefits of optimism and as you read on, you will find valuable and very knowledge- based information. Although it may seem hard to believe, being optimistic has its own challenges as well. I am a very optimistic person because I can see the opportunity in every difficulty, instead of being a pessimist and seeing the difficulty in every opportunity, (Winston Churchill). For example, when we were all growing up and our parents would tell us to follow our dreams. We can do anything we put our minds to, however, life isn’t always easy and surely, obstacles will almost always arise. Those are some of the many optimistic beliefs, and they are rather helpful in our lives. Optimism is a choice, and it is totally up to each person to choose what they will become. Optimistic people have a very positive outlook on life. They are always seeing things in a better perspective than pessimists, and their positive emotions are controlled by their positive choices. Pessimists tend to believe that optimistic people are out of touch with reality and are deluding themselves, but they are not. Optimists and pessimists differ in a lot of ways. Optimists’ conversations would be about positive things, and pessimists would be very negative. Pessimists’ conversation would be depressing to an optimistic person. Pessimists tend to worry about what might go wrong, instead of seeing the positive side. They also emphasize negative happenings in life as a cruel twist of fate. Optimism allows us to pursue our goals in a positive way, to dream a bigger and better dream to work towards. It is a very effective strategy of coping with an unpredictable and complex world.
