I am going talk about the :
First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion:
Locations and forms of power: (also called Places and forms of power or Seats and forms of power)
In order to begin my presentation about form and location of power, it will be necessary for me to define what power means. In the dictionary, power refers to the ability to control others, events, or ressources, the ability to make things happen despite obstacles, resistance, or opposition. This of course leads to conflict between those who have power and those who don't. And sometimes the power experienced as unfair or unjust and harmful, called a power-cons for resistance. I will talk espescially about the power of speech and it capacity to influence the world. In order to demonstrate that, i would like to talk about
This year in class we studied several documents about the idea of progress and in particular : the page cover of the week for scottish independence referendum and, The king's speech the movie. Video of Emma's Watson speech ( he for she campaign)
In order to illustrate this notion I have chosen to talk about :
The power of speech, Scotland's independence, Women’s rights movement in the world
and attempt to answer the question : to what extent does the power of speech can influence people to change and to change the world ?
The first document I have chosen is : The movie the king's speech
Words are incredibly powerful. With the new introduction of radio around the time The King’s Speech is set, it was not enough for a King to go out into public and just be seen. He had to speak, to command, to reassure the people of his country and of countries around the world, especially with the onset of war looming and dark times ahead. Believe in the power your words can have, and your writing will be stronger for it. Don’t feel that you have to over-explain everything with expositional dialogue, stilted description or over-long passages.
