Management skills and behaviors are universal; however, they may vary from one healthcare organization to another depending on the type of organizational structure and the level of management with the hierarchy. For what type of healthcare organization would you prefer to work? Organic or mechanistic? Explain.

There are several reasons. These include the rapidity with which decisions can be made. Especially in healthcare, the pace of change is dramatic and free flowing ides will lead to adaptability. This will also lead to directional changes in a brief period. The other reason is I believe everyone has something to contribute. That is, from an operational and strategic position, different employees see things in a unique way, this can lead to changes which will benefit the organization. Many organizations incorporate the concept of teams. In the military, teamwork is the base of everything that they stand for. They would not be able to fight for our countries’ freedom with just one soldier. It requires a team to accomplish everything they do, and they never leave a soldier behind. The same concept rolls over in to healthcare. The fact that you need so many different departments in the healthcare environment to help one patient is proof enough that team work is vital. “The division of labor among medical, nursing and allied health practitioners means that no single professional can deliver a complete episode of healthcare” (Leggat). If any portion of the team fails or messes something up, that will bring everyone else down as well.…

We talked about mechanistic structure and organic structure. When talking about mechanistic structure, the employees know how to present themselves, why there is no room for them to mess up. (Robbins & Judge, 2011). When people are at work they have to act one way compared to the way they act at home. If the business does not put into place a strong organizational culture, then there could be a lot of unethical behavior in the place of business. This would show the people that work at the place of business and the customers that there is a low organizational structure.…

Today, health care managers are responsible for many things to make a health facility run efficiently. The management process includes: organization, planning, controlling and leading. Health care managers must be able to control. They must be able to determine how to measure their employees’ performances and take actions when needed to reassure desired levels of achievements are accomplished. Managers must be able to plan. They have to schedule employees that are able to complete the tasks needed to obtain the performance desired. They have to plan for any outcome, good or bad that may come their way. Health care managers have to be organized. They have to organize their employees and task to accomplish the work. Health care managers have to be leaders. Whether dealing with individual departments or selecting an appropriate leadership style to communicate a change, it is important to know your audience and be aware of what works best for them.
