Organizational Effectiveness Paper
Introduction
Organizations are social units that are deliberately formed in order to reach specific goals. These social groups include schools, business corporations, military units, and police departments. Organizations are characterized by their goals, authority, communication responsibilities, their set of rules and norms and the presence of one or more authority members that control the organization in order to achieve their goals. This paper will discuss organizational effectiveness apply theories of organizational effectiveness to the management of criminal justice personnel. It will also describe methods for exerting control in an organizational setting.
Define organizational effectiveness.
According to Businessdictionary.com (2015), organizational effectiveness is the efficiency with which an association can meet its objectives. The main measure of organizational effectiveness for a business will be expressed in terms of how well its net profitability compares with its target profitability. Additional measures might include growth data and the results of customer satisfaction surveys.
Apply theories of organizational effectiveness to the management of criminal justice personnel. Within a company, managers as well as leaders can apply many theories of organizational effectiveness. The most typical theory deals with motivation and how to use motivation in order to get employees to do their job in order to meet the goals of the organization. The use of content theories and process theories are typically used by managers to figure out exactly what motivates employees. According to Geering (1980), “Content theories like those developed by Maslow, deal with basic concepts of needs that begin, stimulate, or cause behavior. Process theories are concerned with understanding the reasoning behind the choice of a particular behavior patter to accomplish work
