Where I come from, the rivers flow with intensity, and bullets rain with a matching fervor. Where the heat billows in one place, and the cold in another. A place where the mango, a sweet and tangy fruit, rules the houses and hearts of many, unlike the sugary mulberries which rules the other. Two different places; one in which the children wake up to the calling of the koel bird, the other, where seeing the next day was considered bitter. In less vague words, I come from my parents, who come from two different countries. One descends from the cold winters and raining bullets of Afghanistan, and the other, who descends from the green valleys but polluted streets of India.

once fought with each other over their faith and belief system, who are still learning to live together in harmony. Both communities that draw people of all races and ethnicities together as one. Both communities that are full of lovers and not terrorizers. I come from a collision of two different religions who from the beginning have been destined for doom, due to their contradicting beliefs, in society. One’s strong belief of monotheism, and the others belief of polytheism. The tales of Muslims and Hindus.
I come from a love of arts.
Images, moving or still, candid or planned; art that surrounds us on the daily, yet art that still manages to go unappreciated. I come from the curls of numerous films and hundreds of clicks resulting in JPEG files used to obtain perfection. I come from a world of vivid colors and grainy textures. Everyone believes I have been blessed with artistic eyes, I wouldn’t really say that. But I believe that, due to my love for capturing images and moments, I see the world in a different way. I see colors, angles and everything in between.
I am from two immigrant parents from different worlds, who are in search of their American Dream. I am from three younger siblings; who have shaped me into who I am today, and who I am is a leader, but also a follower, a fighter but also a protector. My name is Sahar Ansary. I come from my, self-doubts and procrastinating habits, and the love and support my family shows me. I come from the crop my parents sowed with a dream, a dream to one day see me in a happy and successful position in life. I come from a life that I am very thankful for, and

shot!
Hey yo, I am just like my country,
I am young, scrappy and hungry.
And I am not throwin’ away my shot!”

“What are the odds the gods would put us all in one spot.” (Miranda, 26)
Six stubborn and hard-headed folks thrown in a household equals lots of love and lots of fights. But at the end of the day, “United We Stand Divided We Fall.” (Dickenson, ?)
