Ganglion cysts are the most common mass or lump in the hand and are not cancerous. They can occur anywhere on the hand but frequently develop on the back of the wrist. Ganglion cysts are filled with fluid and can appear quickly, change in size over time and even disappear on their own. The first symptom is usually a small nodule in the palm near the base of the fingers.
