The job that I have chosen to write about is the orthopedic surgeon and I chose this job mainly because it sounds like a job that is rewarding and they make a lot of money. On a daily basis orthopedic surgeons diagnose and assess a patient's’ injuries or diseases through testing, such as x-rays to look for broken bones, or blood tests to look for rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is when there is inflammation in the bone joints and it can cause a lot of pain. However, 50% of the work that they do is non-surgical. They cast and splint limbs, recommend rehabilitative exercises, and many other things. If surgery is necessary, they repair the injury, disease, or damage. They will plate broken bones, reattach tendons and ligaments, or perform joint or hip replacements if it is needed. For hip replacements they place in a metal plate after removing the damaged hip. Some common surgeries that they perform are total joint replacement, in which they use metal plates and plastic to create a normal shaped joint. These surgeries are usually performed on somebody who has arthritis. Total shoulder replacement is another one in which they do something similar. Spine surgery is another type of common surgery. During this surgery surgeon joins the spine together so that the patient doesn’t have intense back pain. This eventually restricts motion between the bones of the spine and limits the stretching of the nerves. The last type of surgery is ACL, or Anterior
