Bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1975. He was the 17th of 52 children born to Mohammed Bin Laden who owned the largest construction company in Saudi Kingdom. Bin Laden’s father was extremely strict. got divorced and his mother took him to live with her new husband and four other children. Osama went to a school, Al Thagher in Jeddah and by age 14 he mostly known for being shy, but outstanding in school. He was recognized and offered to be in a group whose focus was to memorize the entire Qur’an, while getting extra credit, however the group got completely off track and the group learned about violent jihad.
Everything turned to a dark corner by 1979. The Soviet Union had invaded Afghanistan and Bin Laden joined the Afghan Resistance believing it was his duty as a muslim to fight. Under the CIA program he began training mujahideen, a group of people who were very involved in Jihad. When the Soviet Union left Afghanistan Bin Laden returned to Saudi Arabia where the USA referred him and his soldiers as “Freedom Fighters”. Bin Laden spoke against the Saudi government saying that American soldiers should not be allowed to be on the same land as the rest of the people who live on it, thus putting Bin Laden in exile in 1992.
in 1993 Bin Laden had created a the secret group, at the time: Al-Qaeda (the base) with violent muslims that he had met while serving in Afghanistan.
In order to be in the Al-Qaeda group you need to have the following requirements: listen, have good manners, obedience, and their pledge to follow their superiors. Before 2001, Al-Qaeda was responsible for multiple deaths around the Middle East including a bombing in Egypt. In the 90’s Al-Qaeda was preparing a plan to start a war with the U.S.; they succeeded. On September 11, 2001 they had suicide bomber fly into the World Trade Center towers a.k.a The Twin Towers. There was another bombing in Virginia at the The Pentagon in Arlington and in Pennsylvania. As President Bush was campaigning for his re-election in 2004 Osama sent a out a video confirming that he was responsible the attacks in New York, Virginia, and
Pennsylvania
After the bombing Bin Laden went into hiding for 10 years until he was found and killed on May 2, 2011. President Obama confirmed that Bin Laden had been killed on terrorist compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. He had been shot multiple times. His body is now in the in the Arabian Sea. Osama’s death was the mark of victory for the U.S. Osama got his wish; a war with the U.S. Al-Qaeda is still growing into a more dangerous group. Today we still have troops placed in Afghanistan. We pray for their service and honor the men that brought Osama Bin Laden to justice on May 2, 2011
