Schindler tried going back to farming but declared bankruptcy in 1957 (www.biography.com). The couple moved again and Schindler tried to work in the cement business but that also left him with no money. Jewish organizations, like Schindlerjuden, helped Oskar with financial support for the rest of his life. Schindler was still wanted by the Czech authorities for his spying during the beginning of the war. Schindlerjuden also helped Schindler avoid prosecution. Schindler received several honors during his lifetime. Oskar received the Righteous Among the Nations Honor. He received this honor because he risked his life to save Jews from dying. Oskar also received the Medal of Remembrance in 1993 (www.ushmm). The Medal of Remembrance is given to those who did great things during the Holocaust. Oskar died on October 9th, 1974 in Germany.
