Othello’s emotion affects his imagination, such as when Iago tells him that Cassio sleeps with Desdemona. “Nature would not invest herself in such shadowing passion without some instruction. It is not words that shakes me thus,” (Othello, Act IV, scene I, line 37 - 40). When Othello says this, it tells the audiences he defiantly believes Iago’s lie. If “It is not words that shakes me thus”, then he must imagine the scene. Othello’s imagination can go above his intellect, because he becomes so irrational after imagines the scene and he even faints after saying the quote. When Bianca tells Othello she gets the handkerchief that Othello gives Desdemona from Cassio, Othello suddenly link that to Desdemona is having an affair with Cassio and she gives Cassio the handkerchief as a proof that Desdemona like him. His imagination defiantly goes beyond his intellect that he does not even think twice about how Bianca gets the handkerchief or think about to ask
