Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church
When my parents enrolled me into Our Lady of Grace Catholic School two years ago. I never knew that the journey I was about to begin, was finding my faith. When I learned that you need service hours at the school I realized that it was going to be more than making the grade, but I decided I would keep an open mind, and see what happens. I enjoyed helping on service day at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. With my family by my side we cleaned the campus grounds, worked inside the sanctuary cleaning and polishing pews. I met many people from the parish and made friendships. After service day I felt pride, and had fun spending time helping the church, but I realized I wasn’t a member of the church. I spoke to my parents about how passionately my siblings and I wanted to become parishioners. We are a Christian family that believes in God, but it was a huge commitment to become Catholic and join the church.
Well we did it! My family is now Catholic and parishioners at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church! It is a blessing for me and my family that I cherish. I have a new-found respect for my family, teachers, friends, strangers, and my community. I am motivated to stop and observe my surroundings because I attend a faith based school that requires you to have service

What I found was a church that I wholeheartedly believe in, and I am proud to Catholic! I feel God is with me in my journey! I no longer fear people that are different from me, and places that may scare me. I found the confidence to look people in the eye and lend my hand to help them. I will make mistakes along the way and that is okay because I have a community of support that will help me. My responsibilities have changed because of the compassion I have in my heart. I will spread the word of God, lend a helping hand, and protect my community. With God by my side I will grow into a man that is truly

Although I am a devoted and faithful Catholic as of now, I think that there is always room for improvement. I now know better than to ever put mine or someone else’s thoughts and opinions over the my decision to follow the path that God has set out for me in life. Also, through these words that Mark wrote, I am once again assured that I should never be ashamed or embarrassed of anything that my faith entails, or anything that my faith may influence me to do or say. As long as I have complete faith and trust in God and all that he is capable of, I know that I will live a happy…

It was that night I learned about the college. As my father and I always parked at the Holy Cross campus to go to the football games I really liked the feel of everything and could one day picture myself on these grounds. One thing that I always liked about this college was that, it was not too big or too small it was just right and fit me well. Every time my dad and I needed directions or short cuts to the games, many of the times it was the Holy Cross students and they were very polite and helpful. Another thing that I had always planned to do when I go to college was do my best to make it to a catholic college because my faith is what shapes me and is what makes me the hardworker and persistent person I am. If accepted into Holy Cross not only would it be an honor but I would take great pride and do everything I can to…

During the meeting there was a break where everyone stood up and got coffee and broke into a small conversation groups. The was where I did most of my observing and began to realize even more these people are people just like me, the only difference between them and I was that their reactions to situations were different than mine. Stories were told of going to birthday parties, dinner and even work situations. These stories were no different than my everyday life, the only difference was that after the situations I like to come home and talk to my children and husband they like to have a drink to relax. As the meeting came to an end another pledge was being spoke and everyone stood up and held hands in a circle for the pledge. It was at that very moment I was no longer nervous and had changed my thoughts. I held hands, I joined the group, and I wanted to help be a part of their recovery…

I have been going to Pilgrim Congregational since my mom first took me and then I couldn’t decide what I believed in, but now with the experience of many years of coming to church I know that this is the faith that I want to be confirmed in. I have learned a lot throughout the class about the church and how it works, the United Church of Christ, the bible, Jesus Christ and God, and what it means to help others.…

Religion is very important to most people in society today. It has been around for many years and many different religions have emerged. It is hard for a person to step into a religious environment that is unfamiliar to them. I have never been inside a church and all of my life my family never really told me about religion. The social phenomenon I studied was a Catholic Mass. On Sunday morning, October 23, 2011, I attended the Catholic Mission of Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church in Lilburn, GA. Stepping into the church, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had no idea what would happen or if I would stand out from the crowd as a new-comer. I did get stares, but everyone was very friendly. They wanted to get to know about me and my background. My experience was very overwhelming because I did not know what to do. There was so much kneeling, praying, standing up, and people doing the signs of the cross; I had no idea when to do these things.…

When I was in the eighth grade I went on a weeklong mission trip with my youth group to Houston, Texas. This trip was a turning point in my life spiritually and mentally, completely changing my thought process of inner city missions at the time. There is a ministry there called CSM that invites youth groups to come and they will take the group to certain places in the city where they can serve and get a feel for the need there and many places. This trip was very impacting for me and I am still looking back on it and realizing the benefits.…

I am spending my time volunteering at St. Marks United Methodist Church (St. Marks UMC). This church is an open community, working to create a comfortable atmosphere for anyone and everyone in and around the area. I work specifically with the youth of the church and I reach out to students who are my age or younger than me. I have been volunteering at St. Marks for almost four years, assisting in many different groups and organizations sponsored by our church. I volunteer at this church because it has given me an opportunity to be myself, explore talents, and make strong connections, and I want to help continue this effort and reach out to kids who are struggling with a lot of the same difficulties I faced. I believe that volunteering here is a great experience for someone studying psychology because you meet and get to know many kids who are facing various issues in their lives.…

I chose to attend a Catholic Mass service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. I selected this type of experience because I have never attended a Catholic service. I am an African-American female and I was raised in the Baptist faith. In my community there are very few Black people of the Catholic faith; therefore contacting a friend to attend the service with was impossible. I attended the service on a Monday. The service started at noon. The congregation was predominantly white. The African-Americans I saw were very few in number. Since I am a very open person I was really excited to attend the service. My family on my mother’s side are mostly Seventh - day Adventist and I was taught several ideas about the Catholic Church.…

At first I felt very overwhelmed with the idea of going to different events and arranging meeting times with both my partner and our Deaf guide. After going to the Church I relaxed a tad because I saw how casual the setting was and how family like the members where with each other. They have a no pressure atmosphere where anyone is free to come and go as they please, your able to join the services every Sunday at 12 or just come and hang later for lunch and conversation. This excited me because it became a place that I feel confortable going…
