Outline of Research Proposal
1. Introduction
An explanation of the issue and its significance. The issue presented is the effect of music on violent behavior.
• This contains the description of the general hypothesis to be studied. It is the effect of music on the frontal lobe response and limbic system function.
• Explanation of why this hypothesis needs to be studied. It needs to be revealed that our society needs to solve the issue with violence by stimulating frontal lobe response.
2. Background: to determined/Studies have shown that violent behavior is expressed by rock and rap music.
A description of what is already known and why these studies are insufficient …show more content…
I will look at music in general and explain what music does to the brain. o Description of hypothesis evaluated by the question. Since music effects the brain in all sorts of ways what is the ratio of violent behavior?
• Clarify the hypothesis, if confirmed.
• Clarify the hypothesis, if not confirmed.
4. Method and Design:
A description of the data collection and testing the hypothesis.
• Method: the stimuli; the dependent variable to measure is aggression in cognitive function/independent variable rock and rap music played at its loudest in contrast to classical non lyrical music. o Description of the method of study to test the hypothesis. The method must focus on the effects of the frontal lobe during loud music regardless of lyrics. Surveys will be given on music preference and on aggression. o Description of why this is the best method. o Describe who was tested and why. (Taken into account and documented is the age, language, background, demographic and socio-economic information relevant to the design); also those who are not to be tested for the hypothesis and why. Teens, Adults, Children, Women, Men. All races and demographics. o Describe the sample and why.
• Design: Longitudinal and cross sectional …show more content…
• Results o The results of my hypothesis that proof the claims o The results that disprove the claims.
5. Significance and Conclusion
This would be the discussion of how my research would be an improvement to the original studies conducted, and how it would be an advantage the field. This would include the understanding that loud rock and rap music contributes a large majority to the violent behaviors in teens and older adults.
