All three of them are male, each with strange features that attract my attention. The largest - in every sense of the word - of the group has neon pink streaks that greatly contrast with his gray-brown hair. “I’m sorry,” he says. “But I feel like we can talk this out if you let me!” His voice grows in panic as my eyes continue to burn.
“My, my, the kitten’s got claws,” Mrs. William says, causing a flash of anger in Everett’s eyes. “ I can’t wait to see the other two. Andrea and Max will love to have you four under her wing.”
As she speaks, my body attempts to escape his hold but I can only hope that my will to not hurt new people is holding me back. Eventually the electric shock fades out of my mind and I no longer see everything under a dark red tint. I can breathe easier now, the tension in my body lowly leaking out. I blink my thanks to Everett as his hold relaxes. He gives a nod in return.
“Guards!” Mrs. William suddenly screams.
I quickly shift my weight onto my elbows and look around for the source of trouble. My eyes lock onto Percival and Nathaniel hobbling towards the exit. What are they doing? Two guards sprint towards them, shooting tiny tranquilizing darts at them. The quick smack of the dart hitting skin is enough to make me cringe. The sight of the two collapsing just adds on to it.
