Overcoming Obstacles Essay
Obstacles are not only in life they are life itself. Handling these obstacles is dealing with public speaking, for me has to do with being more resilient in my efforts to heal the wound that exists in my mind but affects my body. In life, many obstacles have to be faced. Overcoming an obstacle is a serious event. The situation itself speaks to the innermost parts of a person. Resilience "enables the individual to examine, enhance and utilize the strengths, characteristics and other resources available to him or her" (Harrington, Where There's a Will). The fears within the individuals create obstacles in the mind also. Studies have shown that people who face their obstacles head on differ from those who allow themselves mental illness from warning and other forms of depression. They play a significant role in the person we are and plan to be. In overcoming or "bouncing back," we allow ourselves to become stronger and grow. Being an overcomer is more than the victory, it's about fighting the good fight for the right reason: to gain independence from defeat. As for me, four elements have influenced my life in the event of public speaking. They are emotional, spiritual, social, and family. The emotional control "allows the mind time and space to direct effort towards maintaining emotional calm and balance" (Harrington, 2012), opposed to attempting to control forces and situation beyond one's ability. This objective is reliable for individuals both mentally and physically. They can take down obstacles and remain encouraged through the process. It is clear that the spiritual element in the role of overcoming consists of action. Action reduce the "value and therefore affect the efforts and determination that will become applied to overcoming the obstacles" (Harrington, 2012). Overcoming obstacles in life are paths, just as surviving those same obstacles are
