Tesco

Purpose the first business that I have chosen is Tesco PLC. Tesco's purpose is to serve its customers. The primary function of any business is to make money and invest; if it doesn't do that, it can't exist. Tesco is a major retailer in grocery and general retailing.
As Tesco is a profit-based business, it maximises their sales and profit, expanding to maintain its competitiveness in addition to outshining competitor. It also focuses on providing shareholders with progressive returns on their investment improving profitability through investment in efficient stores and distribution depots, in productivity improvements and in new technology, developing the talents of its people through sound management and training practices, while rewarding them fairly with equal opportunities for all. Another objective of Tesco is working closely with suppliers to build long term business relationships based on strict quality and price criteria, participating in the formulation of national food industry policies on key issues such as health, nutrition, hygiene, safety and animal welfare and supporting the well-being of the community and the protection of the environment.
Organizational Structure
An organizational structure consists of activities such as task allocation, coordination and supervision, which are directed towards the achievement of organizational aims. It can also be considered as the viewing glass or perspective through which individuals see their organization and its environment. There are a number of ways of structuring organizations, through their function, geographical area, products groups and types of customer.
With Tesco their functions are designed to meet specific purposes to help work together as a successful grocery business. It has different departments that operate different functions to all combine and help Tesco achieve their objectives and their purpose as a globally well-known
