Paly Robotics

As a part of the business team at Paly Robotics, my high school’s robotics team, I have learned how to communicate with professionals, write grants to obtain sponsors, and market and brand oneself. I always strive to find ways to showcase Paly Robotics as a business, and therefore must obtain the adequate skills to run one. One essential component of robotics is to have a good foundation of sponsors who are willing to donate resources and money. However, it is quite challenging to receive funding, as our own high school does not financially support our robotics team. As a result, I have specifically wanted to improve how people perceive Paly Robotics, and I believe that I can obtain the social and financial strategic skills to promote the messages we want to advocate across our community.
I also believe that analysis of major companies will truly benefit how a smaller team, such as Paly’s robotics team, can be run.
The robotics’ business team currently collects information on the demographics of major Silicon Valley companies as a minor task. The case studies offered in this course will allow me to understand how to properly and efficiently analyze how a company operates, a skill I can bring back to the business team as we analyze company demographics for next year. Attending this course will also allow me to improve my leadership skills, as I believe that group work is an essential part of an adult’s career. Because I am expecting to be in a business leadership position next year, I want to be more assertive in what I want completed, without completely controlling other business team members. In conclusion, the Business and Entrepreneurship course will properly prepare me for transforming Paly Robotics into a fully-fledged
business.
