The painting consists of a very blue color scheme throughout. This is, in most cases, associated with coldness and sometimes death. The dark blue background also, as mentioned above, provided almost an extreme contrast. In addition to the background, her hair also dark. Had he chosen blonde hair, the contrast would dulled. Most importantly, the girl’s eyeliner very much brings out her eyes. It is strategically placed on her waterlines rather than lids to accentuate her eyeballs and provide incredibly sharp corners to her eyes. The coldness and “deathly” tone of the painting manifests an eerie and dangerous theme. The contrast and accentuation of the girl and her eyes inclines the audience to be intrigued by the girls fearlessness in a cold and deathly…

I decided to take pictures of my second niece for my triptych proposal assignment. My theme for this assignment was to demonstrate the different emotions that child would undertake at certain times of the day. All three pictures of her display an emotion from happy to moody, and you can see that picture # 1 her face is lightly exposed, brightened and contrasted compared to her body and background. Picuture #2 the foreground and face is exposed due to the background that is blackened out. Picture #3 it's the same as picture #1 and #2. I chose my theme to be happy to moody because i wanted my pictures to emphasize a…

The technique the artist used to construct and design the item relied heavily on symmetry. From the start of the back of the neck down to the start of the tail, a long undecorated line interrupted by a horizontal band of inscriptions around the neck appears to divide the sculpture medially. The simple shapes of the head a sphere with two rectangular ears atop it and a cone like neck below. Including a cylindrical body and legs. The artist’s etching of the lion’s face and body, as well as the three…

The producers used a little bit darker lighting, which mad the background appear to be darker when the Lion was picking on the Tin Man and Scarecrow. The light casts shadows off of the characters, especially Toto. I feel that it helps the viewer relate to the menace the Lion is trying to portray. The Hatter is wearing a bowtie with a pattern of liquorice allsorts, a red frilly blazer and a hat covered in pins. His hair is an unnatural shade of red as are his eyes which are bright green and covered in ridiculous make up. He is represented as quite frightening wearing very pale makeup on his face which is only emphasised by the high key lighting directed on his visage contrasting to the low key lighting in the rest of the poster. Around his face the light is focused, which has an antique like feel, reinforcing the gothic feel which the film seems to try to focus on. The background is what appears to be green patterned wallpaper. This is surprising mise en scene as…

The subject does not accurately depict the human anatomy. In fact, while studying this figure, one may notice that geometric shapes make up many of the limbs. For example, the artist uses ovals to represent the palm of the hands, the shoulders and the knees. The man's chest is in the form of squares with rounded edges and with perfect little white circles as nipples. This oval-like shape is often called an ovoid. The ovoid that make up the palms, chest, and knees are open allowing the natural color of the red cedar to show through. Much of the inside of the mask is the color of red cedar. The ovals that…

As the chapter progresses the reader explores the content of the two characters F-head and Georgie, and stimulates the differences between spiritual reality and original reality. This piece is in the limited colors of black, white, and red. The image itself is in the right top corner with a red skinny rectangle in white bold letters “Super Rich, Ultra Gorgeous” and in the left bottom corner in the same style it says “Extra Skinny, forever Young.” An attractive young woman is depicted summered in blocky ice water. The women wear a mask over her face, but it still purposely exposes her forehead through the bridge of the nose, with her lips popping out through a cutout. The style of the woman’s image resembles the 1950s. The females eyes in the photo serve as a focal point, however, her implied gaze leads upward. This allows the viewer to be curious where the implied line is vanishing. The work is clean and consists of representational art traditions. Kruger does not take any wild liberty with the editing, she simply adds her…
