GENERAL COURSE INFORMATION
Credit hours: 3 credit hours
Prerequisite: Exit Learning Support, ESL, and MATH 1111 (College Algebra) with a grade of “C” or better.
Please be SURE you have satisfied this Math pre-requisite!!
Purpose: This course provides an overview of selected major areas of current
Computing technology, organization and use. Topics surveyed include the history of computing, data representation and storage, hardware and software organization, communications technologies, ethical and social issues, and fundamental problemsolving and programming skills. Hands-on projects enhance and reinforce the ideas presented in class. This course is intended for computer science majors, as well as mathematics and science-based majors.

If your major is something other than math, computer science, engineering or science, then this is probably not the correct course for you to be enrolled in. More than likely you should be taking CSCI 1100, which is specifically designed for nonscience majors. Bear in mind that CSCI
