Paper Sona
PNoy began his SONA by recalling how he came to be chief executive of the land. He thanked the Filipino people—whom he regularly calls his “bosses”—for affirming his so-called “Tuwid na Daan” in the May 2013 elections: Nine of his party-mates were elected to the Senate, signaling Filipinos' approval of his leadership.
Aquino emphasized that to spear inclusive growth, the government needs to maximize opportunities for all, especially the needy. He cited that the percentage rate of employment for TESDA-DOLE scholars is now as high as 70.9 percent in IT-related jobs and 85 percent in electronics and semiconductors.
Aquino urged Filipinos to continue pursuing the righteous path (Daang Matuwid). In any situation in life, people should opt for the fair choice and do things correctly, he said.
Aquino tackled in his speech the following key issues and aims to be pursued in the next half of his term:
[edit] Accomplishments * Passage of the following bills: Sin Tax Bill and Responsible Parenthood Law * Public-private partnership projects: utilization of Laguindingan Airport; modernization of Tacloban Airport, Bicol International Airport, the new Bohol Airport, Mactan Airport, Puerto Princesa Airport; and the Daang Hari-NLEX link road * “Best Tourism Destination of 2012”: The Philippines was declared the “Best Tourism Destination of 2012” by the Oriental Morning Post, “Most Romantic Destination of 2012” by the Shanghai Morning Post, “Best Diving Destination” by the Scuba Diving Magazine, and Palawan as the “Best Island” by the Travel+Leisure Magazine. * Dividends from Government-Owned Corporations (GOCs): examples are the Philippine Reclamation Authority's (PRA) dividends, which amounted to a sum total of P676.82 million from 1996 to 2009 and P1 billion in 2012, and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) gain of P2 billion profit * Resurgence of Philippine economy: two consecutive ten-place jumps in the global competitiveness

From the beginning of times, humanity was organized in small groups ruled by some authority. Small groups grew into the tribes, tribes into villages, villages into the countries. In the sixteenth century Europe Catholic Church and pope was the ultimate authority, world view, science and most importantly politics was based on Catholic church. Towards the eighteenth century even though religion was still huge part of European society, scientific revolution along with the enlightenment weakened the power of the church, religion was not the answer to everything and was not the ultimate authority.…

There are several different meanings, and themes presented in the movie “Twilight Samurai”. This movie takes us through the everyday life of a 50-koku samurai. It is presented as a flashback, told by Iguchi Seibei’s daughter Kayana. The movie starts off with sorrow and hardships which is a very consistent theme throughout the movie. The title of the movie is very appropriate in my opinion. “Twilight Samurai” is not only the nickname that his colleagues gave him, but the word twilight also describes the period in Japanese history immediately before the Meiji restoration, which brought an End to samurai power and privilege (Twilight Samurai, 2005). Twilight Samurai is a movie about loyalty, honor, love, hardships, and death, but a huge part of this movie is also describing the dramatic changes in Japanese culture, and the meaning of life in a new world.…

There have been breakthrough movements made in the effort to establish racial equality in the United States. Historically there have been protests and boycotts leading to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and affirmative action. The government has also gone further to reinforce the laws established in 1964 to amend this act in the Civil Rights Act of 1991. Classes in social diversity can now be found within the school system in order to broaden the minds and explain differences to the members of society.…

Hard-working, immensely intelligent, passionate, prayerful and noble, he dedicated his life to public service and, in the latter years of his life, took a stand against the death of democracy in the Philippines. He went through so much pain and loneliness in his struggles, but he was resilient and continued to fight for our freedom. He often said that he was not afraid of dying, and it’s moving to see how much he was willing to give up for this fight. These days, we see our politicians swinging from one party to another, to wherever they think will give them a better chance at winning. It seems that parties — or politicians, for that matter — no longer stand for any one ideology. In Ninoy’s case, you see his beliefs in everything he does — his hunger strike, his seven years in prison, and his attempt to return to Manila. Actions speak louder than words after all. Through his…

This is a time for us to remember a man who believed the Filipino was "worth dying for," and from him gather the renewed resolve that the Filipino is worth living for, as well. But let us not sound maudlin. Ninoy would have laughed at such sticky sentimentality. When he was sent by the old Manila Times to cover the Korean War (the 50th anniversary of whose conclusion was just commemorated some weeks ago) he was 17, the youngest correspondent of them all. The Time’s editors Dave Boguslav and Joe Bautista had spotted that gung ho quality in Aquino that was to rocket him to fame — and, in the end, impel him remorselessly to his final rendezvous with treachery at the Manila International Airport.…
