The second book of Paradise Lost contains the beginning and origin of what would soon be a countering Trinity of Satan. The Trinity began with the reunion of a connection and bond between Satan and Sin who had previously met within God's Kingdom before being outcasted. As Satan reunited with Sin with the swift and direct words; “Hast thou forgotten me then, and do I seem now in thine eye so foul, once deemed so fair in Heav’n,” (ln. 747-748) he redeveloped the emotional bond and similar goals that the two shared with one another. The formation of the Unholy Trinity of Satan, Sin, and Death was the best way to counter and damage the Holy Trinity of God. Each contributed to the fall of man as they each served a purpose within the trinity while sharing the common goal of overthrowing the Holy Trinity. Sin, which was apart of the Unholy Trinity, was the driving force in trapping man into committing the physical and subconscious acts of sin resulting in their initial fall. Sin's ability to tempt Eve's judgment by encouraging her to choose evil over good was just as strong as the Holy Spirit's ability to tempt her not to be tempted by Sin and remain good and loyal to God. The two trinities clash as the Holy Trinity has the Holy Spirit which aids Christian believers into overcoming temptation from evil and the Unholy Trinity produces Sin which is countering those believers including Satan into the temptations of evil and
