The Constitution Café written by Christopher Phillips is mainly about the viewpoints of students around the country and what could be different about the Constitution. While the majority of the students from the meetings feel like there should be a few things added to the articles of the Constitution, because things are different today than when it was first written in 1787. The book informs the readers on the basics of our rights and understanding more about the Constitution itself. There are many issues discussed such as immigration, justice for all, rights, money matters but I’ll only be going over a few of these issues.…

I agree that actions committed by the United States on the southeastern American Indians was ethnic cleansing. While viewing the assigned video, I determined two examples of ethnic cleansing. The passing of laws in Georgia restricting the land in which the Cherokee were allowed to inhabit served to concentrate them in a single area for the means of subjugation. Further laws were passed deeming the meeting of leading members to be illegal. Federal agents were also sent in to coerce Cherokee leaders into further giving up parts of their land. Arguably the most widely known evidence of racial cleansing revolves around the Trail of Tears. The Trail of Tears refers to the forced march of multiple Native American tribes to new lands predetermined by the U.S. government.…

After reading the story Sucker I believe that the character Sucker is not a living, breathing person. He was created by the main character out of psychological need to help him in his daily activities. I think Sucker is a make believe person in the characters mind that he uses to reflect and interpret his emotions as well as what's going on in his life. Sucker is not a real person because he usually, or almost never, interferes with things going on. Therefore, it is almost as if he's not even there. For example, at the very start of the story where it says: “Sucker slept in my bed with me but that didn't interfere with anything.” This supports my idea because it shows that Sucker is like a ghost or spirit.…

When it comes down to choosing the best childcare option for your child, the first factor that most parents look at is: what that particular child needs. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but there are a number of factors that needs to be considered prior to making that final choice. The decision of whether to send your child to a commercial daycare center or an in-home family childcare should depend on more than just the need of the child. Parents need to also consider environment, cost, certification, daily schedules, and provider to child ratios.…

The 1920s was a time of major surprising social changes in the United States. The social changes during this period were reflected in the laws and regulations that were brought into play during this time. Albert Einstein said, ¨Nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced.¨ This quote makes me believe that Prohibition did not succeed and it was a failure to society. I believe this because the ¨noble experiment¨ was undertaken to reduce crime and corruption, alcohol consumption was increased, there was overcrowded prison systems, and lack of public support during this time. The results of these reasons shows that Prohibition was a failure, and the Eighteenth Amendment hindered our society.…

There exists a law in the province of Quebec, which prohibits a parent(s) from leaving any child under the age of twelve (12) unattended or unsupervised by an adult for any given period of time. (Immigration Quebec) This law, without the services offered by daycares and childcare centers, would be impossible to follow due to both work and study. However, in Quebec, not only are there ample daycare and childcare services offered to the families of children under the age of twelve (12), but many are affordable as they fall under the government subsidized universal daycare plan which is currently unique to Quebec, and allows for these services to be affordable to all families in all income brackets as it generally costs only $7.30 a day per child. At some point almost every parent faces the decision to use either a commercial daycare facility or an at home daycare. Some families are lucky enough to be able to have one of the parents stay at home or have a close family friend or family member that can provide childcare. However, they share similarities and differences that will be evident throughout this essay.
