Passion has its place
Whether it starts to rain, snow, sleet, no matter the weather condition, I enjoy being out on the soccer pitch. I have grown up playing soccer when I was three years old, my parents put me in the sport and I never looked back. It was a life changing experience. Looking back at my experiences on and off the pitch, soccer has a meaningful place in my life, I have grown up out there, I have cried out there, I have been angry out there, I have built character out there, and I have become relaxed there. Soccer is a part of me. The pitch is a place where I enjoy all the people around me because they are enjoying the same thing as me. To me, soccer is much more than a ball and two goals; it connects people from all over the world. I have gained many friends that I would not have if not for soccer. Since I was little, the soccer pitch has been a safe place, once you put on your guards and lace up your cleats, nothing else matters except the girls I share bonds with. Soccer has become a huge part of my life. All I can remember when I was little is the late nights at the soccer fields. Right now, I play, I coach, I referee the game, and that is just the start. I cannot get enough.
Somewhere behind the athlete I have become and the hours of training and the coaches who have pushed me, is still that little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back. It has been one of the things that I have done for me, and not anyone else. When I enter the pitch, it is as if everything else goes away. I focus on what I am doing and nothing else matters. I enjoy my mind being clear and being able to focus on the things I want to. The reason I continue to play is that it has always been for me. The smell of the fresh cut grass and popcorn as you stand on the field getting ready to start, then the sound of the whistle and the crowd before kickoff is an exhilarating moment. There is nothing else like that rush. When the rays of sun beating down on you are hot enough to melt

Every single day I was outside either playing catch or working out. I remember at the time I was playing for the St Louis Sting, I continued the season to have the most innings pitched, lowest earned run average, second highest batting average, most doubles, most strike outs, and I also pitched my first no-hitter. Without having the dedication or motivation none of this could have happened. I went from playing catch once a week to everyday. I also would continue on and play baseball at Parkway South High School and lead that season in strikeouts. As I grew older I started to realize that I have the capability to play baseball for the rest of my life and that's something that is unexplainable. To be able to do something you love to do for the rest of your life is remarkable to me. I get that all because of a game.…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I remember when I was five, I would always attend my step sister’s soccer games during the weekend while at my dad’s. I would always love to watch but I was more of a hands on person. I have always wanted to play soccer but unfortunately it was harder to do for a kid, like me, when I had divorced parents that lived 40 minutes away from each other. It was so hard because usually when it came to soccer, the games would be during the weekend and practices would be a few days during the week. Finally, after my sophomore year I decided to try again and play for my school.…
