Past Affecting Future
World Civilization 2

How do the events of the past affect your life and how will a study of the past help you better understand the mentalities of today?
Events in the past are very essential to individuals and even the society. Events in the past have many ways on impacting a person`s life. History can help one to understand the people and the society in which they live, also why things are they way they are presently, and more importantly it can help as a learning experience. History offers a storehouse of information about how people and society behave. Events in the past serve as our laboratory, therefore data from the past must serve as our most vital evidence when seeking to solve current situations or future problems. The past causes the present and even affects the future. Things that are happening in our lives currently have not occurred by mere chance and can therefore be traced back to view the origin of such an event. Culture, religion, and moral understanding are three areas in which the events of the past and the study of history can help us better understand why things are the way they are.
Culture seems to be one of the best examples of how the past affects individuals and in general a country`s lifestyle. A country`s culture or even a business` culture is not something that can be changed or arranged. It however is something that has started from the past and been brought through generation to generation. This makes each business or country unique because each organization or country has been through different events in the past which helped to curb their present.
History can be easily used to understand how religion came about, moral understanding i.e. norms, mores and morals, how persons gain their identity, and can even help a person and country with good citizenship. An example of this is the view of Political Parties. A person may want to know how they came about or why someone’s family only votes for the Republican Party. Situations

If history was just pivotal facts and dates, decisions would not be made by the hundreds of choices people make to decide anything, they would just happen automatically. People’s personalities and opinions effect what happened in the past so much that it would be foolish to disregard past people’s point of views as history. Equally as important is the culture in which people thrived at different times in the past. The Where.
