I am interested in pursing the major I chose above because I have developed a passion for medicine through my own health obstacles. I suffer from Chronic Migraines, which has caused me to spend a great deal of my life in doctor's offices. Positive experiences with my doctors lead to me idolizing them as a young child; so much so that I memorized the every bone in the body at the age of five. This passion stayed alive and well as I grew older, however my admiration began to transition from the doctors themselves to the subject. This all stemmed from my own health; I wanted to know exactly what was happening with my body and why. Now, I want to dedicate my life to the subject and possibly be the doctor that inspires someone to discover their…
Like a stalker, I researched Forensic Pathologist online in middle school, found a person by the name of Donald Jason, and told him about my passion and how I wanted to become a Forensic Pathologist and what I should do. It also said that most Pathology were old white men because of the many years it takes most women decides to do something else. That’s when I and up my mind that medicine was not a choice but a must, I not only wanted to help the dead victims, to be their ears, eyes and mouth and to save lives but I wanted to encourage other females to never give up on their…
Going into my freshman year of college at The College of Charleston, I was unsure how the college experience would affect the next four years of my life; however, after nearly two semesters of coursework, career exploration, playing division one baseball, and being involved in the community, I have decided that the Honors College is the best path for me. I have set my mind on majoring in Biology and pursuing a career as a physician. The interdisciplinary studies, Honors Immersed, and the community involvement through Honors Engaged the Honors College offers directly line up with what I want to pursue outside of the classroom with regards to medicine and exploration into the sciences. These aspects of the Honors College will not only put me closer to achieving my goal of getting into Medical School, but I know I will enjoy them, as I have a passion for learning and helping others.…
