Women had to stay inside the house at times because if they went outside they could be shamed and called a bad wife. Also they had to put their father first, then their husband, and finally their son. Women were slaves in some cultures and they would be be a housekeeper of the family.

Roman men’s attitudes it that they are superior and that they will get the final say in everything.
This might deter historians from using this document because they will believe that is is biased because it was written by men only and no women’s feelings or speeches were included in it.
I would say that China and the Roman Empire had a similar gender system because women could not disgrace their families and they could not go outside, they had a specific set of duties, and they could not talk to other women's husbands. They differed in the respect that India was less constrictive on what women could do and could not do.
Women were able to challenge their society by defying the set of guidelines that they are taught to follow. This is similar to the feminist thinking of today but it is not exactly the same. I think that Roman authorities took action against these mysterious religions because they did not understand them. They grew up learning their religion and they do not know what to make of these new religions and traditions.
The mysterious cults provide a sense of cleanness and purity that the other religions did not offer to the people.
These paintings tell us that the social life of Pompeii was very diverse. They had people of all statuses around and they mingled no problem. Religion, however, was different. They were scared of new and mysterious religion. They thought that if a new religion was going to come, then they would lose followers because they believed something different than everyone else.
Upper class, lower class, and slaves are shown in these picture. You can tell which people are from the upper class by what they are doing or how they are acting. You can tell which people are from the lower class by what their occupation is or where they are hanging out. You can tell which ones are the slaves by looking at what they are doing and if they are serving
