Patriarchy Of Women In Ancient Rome

Patriarchy emerged through culture and religion such as Confucism and Daoism. Through time the patriarchy began to fade however men and women will never be totally equal. Patriarchy was expressed through rules and laws made for women to follow saying that they could not do certain things and that they had to be obedient to men. Women would have to do whatever the man wanted.
Women had to stay inside the house at times because if they went outside they could be shamed and called a bad wife. Also they had to put their father first, then their husband, and finally their son. Women were slaves in some cultures and they would be be a housekeeper of the family.
Women were barely able to act in the public because they only came out of the house
Roman men’s attitudes it that they are superior and that they will get the final say in everything.
This might deter historians from using this document because they will believe that is is biased because it was written by men only and no women’s feelings or speeches were included in it.
I would say that China and the Roman Empire had a similar gender system because women could not disgrace their families and they could not go outside, they had a specific set of duties, and they could not talk to other women's husbands. They differed in the respect that India was less constrictive on what women could do and could not do.
Women were able to challenge their society by defying the set of guidelines that they are taught to follow. This is similar to the feminist thinking of today but it is not exactly the same. Feminist today have a lot more freedom than they did then, and they will not be disgraced from their family if they do something
I think that Roman authorities took action against these mysterious religions because they did not understand them. They grew up learning their religion and they do not know what to make of these new religions and traditions.
The mysterious cults provide a sense of cleanness and purity that the other religions did not offer to the people.
