Penalties on Celebrities When the law is broken and you’re under the spotlight a part of the population wishes that person gets severely punished. People feel they should face stricter penalties because you’re famous and in the other hand some people feel like were equal so we should have the same punishment. When it comes to breaking the law nobody should walk away from punishment but that does not mean celebrities should face more severe punishment than others who commit the same offence.
The law should be proper for the punishment according to the degree of crime committed and not according to the status of a person. They should be treated the same as all humans so they shouldn't face stricter penalties. The punishment should fit the crime. People shouldn’t expect perfect behavior from all celebrities. They are humans as well and should face equal penalties as others regardless of fame or financial wealth. Celebrities fall under the same law as all citizens and receive the same human rights as all humans. They need justice they need equal rights. Just because they are rich doesn't mean they should have stricter penalties celebrities are human beings too. Statistics suggest that 57% agree with not giving celebrities strict penalties because “they are just as equal…they have the same basic rights as everyone else…they are just like us.” Jameson was arrested on May 25 after she crashed her Range Rover into a light pole in Westminster and was given a strict penalty option. People who were against this stood up for her in the court case and she ended getting off with the proper punishment. People think they’ll pick up influences if they saw a celebrity drinking they would think it is cool and do it for example like Lil Wayne or Nicki Minaj.
