For example, a man is being charge with aggrevated assualt and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. This man would sit in prison without doing anything productive. If one of the year was dedicated to education or skills class, it would rehabilitate the offender. Punishment is already given by taken away their freedom. Serving time is not the only way of punishing those who broke the law. There has to be way to help those are misguided. A prisoner would come out one day and many do not have a home to go to.
