Abstract
This study aims to know the perception of the ESEP student in Camarines Sur National High school concerning the effects of food preservatives in the food they eat. In gathering data 30 ESEP students in any grade level was given a survey questioner with 12 questions. A graphical representation has been made showing the high percentage of responses of the ESEP students in the questions. Mostly students have a perceptions of the effects of food preservatives in the food they eat and their reasons why they buy that kind of food. The knowledge of ESEP students about food preservatives on the following food given and the result is in every food they have a little conception about preservatives. Students are conservative with nutrients and satisfactory they could get which provides their wise-self. Keywords: Food Preservatives, Perception
Introduction
Perception of ESEP students on the effects of food preservative is classified because it can affect their body performance in their daily activities. We all know that food preservatives are used to prevent spoilage and extend the product shelf life [1]. But we should also know that it have negative effects in our health. Our actions reflect what we know so we should gather information to have a wise decision in foods that we will eat. The amount and type of preservatives permissible is legally regulated on a case-by-case basis and must be declared on the label. It is also good commercial practice to avoid preservatives where possible as "chemicals" in food may be avoided by consumers [2].
