These two men lived a life full of many accomplishments and hardships, that remain in the minds of many today. Both McCandless and Treadwell lived a life of purpose in their minds by satisfying themselves by living out their dreams. Their stories are carried on and can inspire many to get up and do what makes them happy. “Don´t hesitate or allow yourself to make excuses. Just get out and do it. Just get out and do it. You will be very, very glad that you…

This painting was inspired by a restaurant on New York’s Greenwich Avenue where two streets meet, the painting depicts an all-night diner in which three customers, all lost in their own thoughts, have congregated. Hopper’s understanding of the expressive possibilities of light playing on simplified shapes gives the painting its beauty.…
“One moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory”(Louis Zamperini as qtd. in goodreads). Many people will read Unbroken and see a story of a man who survived by power or knowledge which may be true, however, his survival is most likely because of the lessons he learned in his earlier life. Louis Zamperini was an intelligent and powerful man. The reason he was like that was because of his time living before his heroic incidents. Louis learned to be more compatible from his brother. He became physically fit after joining the track team to convert his energy for stealing, drinking, and partying into positive things. He gained great character traits from when his brother changed his whole persona and saving him from a down spiralling life of failure. Louis overcame fear by joining the military and finally flying in a plane, his lifelong fear. All of these helped him survive during his time of need.…
Percy Jackson is the main protagonist of the last Olympian. Percy isn’t greed at because he turned down god hood. “Oh, not you although I suppose I should wonder turning down immorality” (Riordan, 355) after defeating Kronos he was given a offer to be a god. He is also funny “With great power... comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later”. Making funny remark and one liner makes him a funny character in general, this funny one liner was said after he obtained the curse of Achilles and they were outside the underworld. Percy is also caring for his friends and he would do anything to protect them. "You're cute when you get worried; your eyebrows get all scrunched together."(Riordan, 199) this was after Percy’s friend Annabeth was fatally…
Vivian Thomas was a black man living in a time of great prejudice in our country. He was very intelligent and skilled in the field of medicine and was an asset to the scientists and doctors trying to find a cure for the "blue baby" syndrome. He had great determination and humility while being faced with prejudice from so many people and is an inspiration to not only the African American scientists and medical professionals who followed him, but for many people even today who hear his story. Vivian Thomas's talents and character traits were given to him by God to be used even in the face of so many trials, and I believe, after hearing his story that God uses the trials in our lives to make us into the people he wants us to be.…

Julian may be dead, but his legacy and research will live on…
“The Glass Castle” by Jeanette Walls is an extremely intriguing novel that really kept my attention throughout the whole story. The Walls family is definitely one that is unlike any I’ve ever come across, and the lessons that the children learned were ones that helped shaped their lives and made them who they are today. Jeanette obviously learned so much from her experience that she wrote a whole book about it, managing to hold the reader’s attention through all 281 pages. Jeanette Walls goes through many descriptions of situations that she faced that people normally should not face. For most of her childhood, she was traveling from place to place because her parents always thought that they would hit it big and never finding a steady job.…

Last week in class we read the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. The book showed what's it’s like to overcome adversity at anytime even when times are bad Jeannette Walls overcame her father's alcoholism and her mother's psychoness. The family was also going through a financial crisis so with the weight of everything on her she had to get over so much for her to be able to succeed in her later life. Jeanette was a very strong and determined person and she didn’t allow herself to use the homelessness or her father’s alcohol problems but more as opportunities. She felt as if the hardships were making her who she was and it allowed her to become such a strong and humble person. I have had much adversity but this was the hardest for me. A couple…
My conclusion, as I took this class my understanding of Christians has being a good outlook for me, in the way that God wants us to live. As I have outline about Jesus did not claim to be God, but he did state that I am the Fathers and Son. And if a person is a Christian, does it matter how they live their life, yes it does because they are suppose to be God leader in order to help others come to God. The local church can communicate God’s love to the community by going out and taking time to help the community understand the meaning of God.…
Have you ever asked yourself the questions that could change your mindset like, if why we should not ignore the past or what might happen if we ignore the past. I will share my opinion on these questions by giving examples from the texts, “I am a Native of North America”, “Freedom Walkers” and “JoAnn Robinson”. I will share my thoughts and feelings on these questions. I will share experiences that relate to these texts and that answer these questions.…
I saw the video of John Foppe’s life in our class and the words were like daggers hitting me hardly because I am one of those more-of-a-pessimist guys, who pitied his self easily, who envies a lot, who asks why life is unfair, and who questions why I am not the kind of man I dreamed to be. Even the movie clip left me in a state of asking why he was able to achieve a lot even with his disabilities and here comes me, with complete parts, yet of less achievement if none. I almost viewed that supposed to be inspiring video negatively. In fact I really did, until that night when I started writing this insight on a paper.…
