“Students face all kinds of problems when they start high school. Some students struggle with friendship mostly.” Firstly, friendship is important for everyone to communicate, share problems without criticizing, make memories and stand up for them through their rough times. First of all a friendship is all about sacrificing your life problems to get involved with other peoples' problems and help them get through their pain. According to Charlie when he expresses how he feels about his surroundings and Sam he mentions “And I remembered that Sam introduced me as her friend to Bob. And I remembered. And I started to cry,” –“Sam started smoking cigarettes”-“I ate the brownie, and it tasted a little weird but it was still a brownie, so I liked it. But this was not an ordinary brownie. Since you are older, I think you know what kind of brownie it was” (Chbosky34-38). This quote shows that Charlie is now considered as one of Sam’s friends. Charlie was very happy about this and felt like he was normal and accepted by people around him for who he was at that moment. He was so happy that he bursted into tears. Another reason why Charlie was becoming more sociable was when he engaged himself into taking drugs and willing to take part in the activities Sam and his new friends were involved in such as when he eats a pot brownie even though it tasted bizarre but he was enjoying it because Sam and other people around him were happy. Furthermore, Sam helped Charlie in becoming more sociable by embracing him for whatever he was doing as long as he was happy with it. Charlie didn’t’ live in a good faith. He was controlled over by Aunt Helen getting what she want from him as an advantage. He never took in mind his own feelings, and didn’t live his life. As a result he was living in a bad faith. When Charlie's flashback reminds him that his aunt Helen is the nicest aunt he could have and Charlie shows a lot of love and affection towards aunt Helen because she cared about Charlie, she was like another mother to him. Aunt Helen's death had taunted Charlie a lot causing him to breakdown into believing that her death was his fault. The way Charlie perceived the situation caused him to breakout most of the time and feel and see things that aren’t true. All of his breakdowns and his pain were relieved when Sam came into Charlie’s life, she has always understood Charlie point of view and always supported him when he was in extreme pain and had panic attacks. She helped him by comforting him and telling him it’s ok because she has experienced the same issue once she was a child so she understands Charlie's problem better. According to Charlie when he was very upset he mentions “Sam put her arm around my shoulder, and she said she knew what I was going through. She told me I shouldn’t worry about it.
