Despite the difficulty of the adventurous journey, Perseus decides to accomplish it because that is the only way Polydectes will leave his mother alone. He feels obligated to protect his mother because she is the only blood relative that he knows of. He proves his passion in life through how he becomes so honourable, fearless, calm, and also clever in fighting with his challenging life. He fits the heroic model of an honourable man who overcoming all obstacles to reunite his family and do justice.
The story also illustrates the benefits that come with honourable behaviour. The Gods, Hermes and Athena were being helpful to Perseus during his crucial moments, which had made it possible for Perseus to complete his missions successfully. Generosity again proves to be a good thing to practise where Dictys, the fisherman who is King Polydectes’ brother ended up becomes a king after his evil brother was being killed by Perseus. He did it through his own good personality by treating Perseus nicely unlike King Polydectes. In this way, the story highlights that great people can always have humble beginnings but at the end he or she can still get a better life than others.
