12/4/15 The Story of Perseus Although, Perseus seems like he had a perfect childhood in Olympus, he had the exact opposite. Perseus is a Greek hero. His father was Zeus, his mother was a beautiful princess named Danae. Danae was born from King Acrisius. King Acrisius wanted a boy to carry on his reign. So he went to the Oracle, the Oracle said he would never have a boy but his daughter would. The Oracle also said this child would be the death of him. So the king, not knowing what to do locked his own daughter in the dungeon. His daughter prayed to Zeus to help her and Zeus being who he is, instead of seeing a mourning girl he saw a beautiful girl. He could not think

He ordered everyone to bring a gift. Being so poor, Perseus and his mother could not. Polydectes pretended to have a very heated argument with peruses. After their argument the king threatened peruses’ mother. Perseus being loving and brave, agreed to bring the king anything he wanted. The king knowing that the journey to Medusa's lair was long and dangerous asked for Medusa's head. Perseus not knowing what else to do set off on this journey. (www.greekmythology.com/myths/heroes/Perseus/perceus.HTML) paragraph 4-5) Perseus knew he could not kill Medusa by himself. So he made a plan to go and ask mythological being for help. Knowing that Athena was an expert of crafts, he went to her for answers. She did not only give Perseus answers but she also gave him a reflecting shield. He was off to the next place, where the nymphs lived. The nymphs gave him winged shoes for a quick escape. He then traveled to Hermes. (Hermes, delivers messages to and from all the Gods). Hermes, gave Perseus the Sword of Adamant. Hermes also gave Perseus a helmet of …show more content…
Since he got flying shoes he is associated with Hermes the messenger of all the Gods. He is also associated with bravery, heroism, and strategy. These things are found when peruses slices off Medusa's head.
He is also considered to be associated with the Pegasus and flying. This is because of his flying shoes. Perseus is a hero and there are many things that resemble them. Peruses was a good person. Although he was a great man, with a great story, he is sometimes seemed as a little bad. He killed Medusa and the mythical creature the Kraken but sometimes he does not seem like the best guy. In fact he murdered more than Medusa. He is found walking through town with her head in hand. He seems to be a bad person in this part of the story. This does put a bit of a stain on his perfect life. This is why he is associated with chaos, death, and pain. Everyone makes mistakes and when everyday people make mistakes , it does not matter, but since it is a Greek hero it seems very

The second reason was when he saved Andromeda. When he on his way back from killing the gorgons he went to Ethiopia Perseus had found a lovely maiden called Andromeda. The punishment that Andromeda was not supposed to be for her it for her mother, she was punished from the gods because her mother was bragging and saying that Andromeda was more beautiful than the daughters of Neureus (the sea-god), so as a punishment they chained her in a rocky ledge to wait on the coming of the monster. Perseus saw her and him on the instant he loved her, so he waited beside her until the monster came to get its prey then he cut its head and saved her. This supports the thesis because this example really showed how chivalrous Perseus was when he saved Andromeda.…

History can prove that the consciousness of fertility can cause females to flaunt just how fertile they are to the proper mating pool through ornamentation. It was researched through the observation of mating rituals in birds. Females are known to lavishly decorate their nests with flowers, leaves and the best twigs they can find just to attract a suitable mate. Although the studies and observations can prove that females tend to make themselves stand out to a partner, yet, there is still the question of why. In a study (Hasleton, Mortezie, Pillsworth, Bleske-Rechek, Fredrick 2007) has come up with a study on ornamentation and how it is affected by shifts in the ovulatory cycle. Hasleton et al. (2007) hypothesizes “that changes in women’s motivations manifest themselves in changes in self-ornamentation through attentive personal grooming and attractive choice of dress.” thus a woman is more motivated to go out and find a man once they have adorned themselves in the proper dress that makes them feel attractive.…

In the vast tellings of Homer’s The Odyssey, many character comparisons can be made. Few are more pressing however, than the heroism of Odysseus and his wife, Penelope. Although both Penelope and Odysseus displayed heroic characteristics in The Odyssey, Odysseus was more of a hero than his wife was in the epic. Penelope, while somewhat of a heroine, simply was not depicted by Homer to be the hero that her husband was.…

Odysseus, man of exceptional wit, bravery, and intelligence, epic hero The Odyssey written by Homer, is nothing short of extraordinary. He fearlessly leads his remaining men home to Ithaca, doing everything in his power to get them back alive and well. He wore a flat, wide-brimmed hat known as "Petasus", winged sandals that gave him the ability to fly and oftentimes was found to have wings attached to his shoulders and his hat. He also carries a bag which represented his role as the Greek god of riches, trade and good fortune. Hermes’ winged staff was wrapped with snakes, or caduceus which allowed Hermes to gain access anywhere. The caduceus was given by Apollo and originally showed a willow wand accompanied by weaved ribbons. However, the ribbons were later replaced as snakes. To support this adjustment mythologically, a story developed for Hermes where he used the caduceus to depart two fighting snakes which immediately spiraled themselves together in peace. The staff was also able to charm men's eyes to sleep or to wake up those who were tamed by Hypnos, the god of…
