According the NHS Digital there are ‘over 10,000 more admissions a day than 10 years ago’ this has undoubtedly put a strain on staff and resources and the ability to be able to perform person centred care to the standard necessary. Overworked and staff shortages are the main barriers to PCC observed in the practical setting (Pelzang et al, 2010). Shortage of staff means that staff are not able to get enough one on one time with their patients, as they have so many things to do whilst on shift.
