Appearance may create a positive or negative image. Intelligence, knowledge, abilities and initiative may lead you to success, but regardless of who you are, how old and what your goal is, your image management can give you the personal or professional presence you need. You can fool people into thinking you’re a different person just be dressing different way. There have been loads of social studies that show that people are more likely to trust a man in a suit rather than a man in jogging trainers. Why? Because people assume that if he’s able to afford an expensive suit, he can’t be bad news, which is right, but once again proves that how we dress affects how people perceive us.
While what you wear and how you look is important, the most important things are still your behavior and manners. Your personal qualities matter, especially when they meet expectations of others.
Your appearance can also affect the way you feel. A positive personal appearance is a very effective way to boost your self esteem. When you appear attractively dressed and groomed, personally authentic and appropriate for the occasion, you feel more confident, comfortable, capable and productive.
It also affects the way you act or behave. You can’t afford to act awkward, insecure or out of place, while looking attractive. It just helps you improve your behavior and enhance your productivity.
In conclusion, I think that people should not consider appearance and fashion as main factors to evaluate other people as well as themselves.
