Possessing the ability to constantly check to see if it is the “right” or “wrong” thing to do is a great guide on making good decisions. Good behavior and decision-making skills helps in the eyes of the person in charge and could help with advancing in the ranks at a respective business. Intending to do the right thing is something that every person participates in, but it does not always happen with ethics in mind. Svara explains this phenomenon in his book when he comments that “the unethical official may be driven by ego and overwhelming commitment to accomplish his or her own goals” (pp.112). The city manager could be using this person to advance her plans in moving up the ladder in her career goals.
