This report is to make a self-assessment of my current situation and develop a range of professional and personal skills in order to promote my own future personal and career development.
2.0 Responsibility for own personal and career development
2.1 Own performance of current management skills
1. Time management
Time management is the act or process of exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase efficiency or productivity. Fewer managers mean more responsibility for those in the business. In addition, time management is essential to avoid stress and to get everything done.
2. Prioritization
Prioritization is an integral of time management. In marketing, managers may have to priorities markets or customers and need to understand the process and criteria by which priorities can be established. Prioritization is the essential skill you need to make the very best use of your own efforts and those of your team. It 's also a skill that you need to create calmness and space in your life so that you can focus your energy and attention on the things that really matter.
3. Delegation
Delegation is essential in ensuring that tactical details of activities are attended to; to give younger managers and staff experience and chance to develop their skills; to act as a motivator. In addition, delegation is described as the assignment of authority and responsibility to another person to carry out specific activities. However the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation empowers a subordinate to make decisions.
4. Communication
A majority of business problems can be traced back to poor communication and in today’s global environment these problems are multiplying. The essence of the manager’s job is communicating, both sending messages and listening to them. It must be done professionally both inside and outside the
