As my mom is driving I'm sitting in the back seat proclaiming my new learned knowledge about the cranium like Archimedes discovering the value of “pi”. Finally my mom arrives at the Woods Avenue Park and see’s other little boys playing with soccer balls dribbling and wearing their favorite professional soccer heroes jerseys. I give my mom heartfelt hug and say goodbye. I run to my coach to say hello and soon practice begins. After finishing warming up I get my tiny and colorful green …show more content…
As I grew older my passion for soccer, math, and science expanded to new horizons that before seemed unattainable. My teachers along with my natural intrinsic curiosity for the topics were developed on deeper levels. Since then I made sure to put extra time outside of practice in order to succeed. This dedication allowed me to start starting goalkeeper all four years of my high school career. This confidence translated to my academic studies in school. For math i also decided to push myself to levels that i hadn't before. My freshman year I took Algebra 1. Now my senior year I am taking Ap Calculus along with Ap Statistics. In just for years of high school I will have completed six years of math. I am also currently the president of the math club at my school. In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

It had been a long and tough game. The sun was beating down on us and we were all tired when all of a sudden the game’s time limit ran out. We were all tense because no one knew the score. The ref said that the game was tied. We all exhaled. We hadn't even realized we were holding our breaths. That meant we all had to do PKs (Penalty kicks) until one team won.…

It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

Soccer, the sport I started playing when I was four years old. After almost 14 years of playing the sport I loved, we were playing Ocala Vanguard in the District tournament for my high school soccer team, Leesburg; if we lost it would be game over for me and my 15 other senior teammates. We knew we had to play strong just to have a chance against them, and oh what a game it was.…

People ask me why I care so much. They tell me it’s just a game, get over it. But soccer has never been just a game to me. Soccer has been consuming my time, thoughts, and body since my parents signed me up for small-time recreational soccer twelve years ago that developed into extremely competitive travel soccer. They, perhaps unknowingly, threw me headlong into a life of traveling countless miles, long nights of practice, and an unforgettable amount of tears, sweat, and bloodshed. All which persisted over the course of my extensive soccer career.…

Quotes like this help me a lot when I’m playing soccer, especially during a soccer game. This quote is a perfect example of a soccer tournament that my soccer team and I had participated in. For this tournament, we went to Madison and the tournament was called Madison Rush Spring Classic 2015. In this tournament, there were two brackets and my team was in Bracket B. In my bracket, the teams were Croatian Eagles Red U12G (my team), Verona SC U13G, Monona Grove SC Cobras, and Rush McFarland U12.…

It’s game day, and the first time in twenty-three years that we might be able to defeat out school rivals, Turpin. But something didn’t feel like it should, after all it was the biggest day our team’s season. We had immense confidence in ourselves, being the higher raked state team, we expected to win this game then make a large tournament run. Little did we know that the rest of our season relied heavily on this game. Winning or losing this game would not end our season physically, but would emotionally ruin us, ultimately ending our season. The game began with a pleasant, almost soothing blow of the whistle and ended with the blood-curtailing screech of the referee’s dagger, sending shivers down my spin. The roar of our crowd stopped and…

My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. The reason I’m so competed and driven is because of the game. Soccer has helped me become a responsible hardworking young adult that doesn’t like to fail. My never-quit…

I remember when I was five, I would always attend my step sister’s soccer games during the weekend while at my dad’s. I would always love to watch but I was more of a hands on person. I have always wanted to play soccer but unfortunately it was harder to do for a kid, like me, when I had divorced parents that lived 40 minutes away from each other. It was so hard because usually when it came to soccer, the games would be during the weekend and practices would be a few days during the week. Finally, after my sophomore year I decided to try again and play for my school.…

Over the hot summer, I was doing summer workouts for soccer. My goal this year was to make the varsity soccer team and I knew I could do it with the support from my coaches and peers. My coach had said about a month before workouts started, “You have a really good chance at making varsity this year” and this made me want to work even harder in the coming months of workouts. We had been working out for about three months now starting in around February with the indoor soccer practices and each and every day was hard on us all. Workouts were tough on everyone because of all the cardio and strength training we did as well as working on ball skills. Every day over the summer I would arrive home to find myself going right back to my comfy, warm…

It was a Friday night in mid August 1991. I was a noseguard and middle linebacker on defense, depending on the play. I also played right guard on the offensive line. This is the story of a night that could of well ended any hope of being an athlete, on any level, from this point on. I will be telling the story from the defensive side of the ball, due to that is where I was playing when I had five vertebrae, slightly, separated.…
