Personal Experience – “My Awesome Experience in Orlando, Florida”

In April of 2013, I was traveling along with my mom to Orlando, Florida. It was my very first time going to Orlando, so I was clearly ecstatic. The main reason we were going was because my cousin who is currently a News Reporter was relocated from Memphis, Tennessee to Orlando as of receiving a promotion. So at that time, she had recently moved there and was officially settled in her new place. At that time I was not done with the semester yet since it was during April, but I was deeply aware that I was going to miss only a couple days of classes. I was only going for about less than a week, so it didn’t stop me from going. I wanted to experience the warm, sunny Florida type of weather that I usually didn’t get from Chicago. I had hoped to see various palm trees, go to 1 or 2 popular theme parks that Orlando was known for, and possibly go to some fancy restaurants and try new dishes. Those were the main reasons I was eager to go there. When it was time to finally leave, I was not going to miss Chicago and its bipolar weather whatsoever … Then when finally arriving to Florida, it was about 88 degrees and humid. My cousin, Jackie showed us around the city, talked about various restaurants we were planning in going, theme parks, and finally showed us her condo that was located right in the center in downtown. I had fallen in love with every palm tree we passed by as well. I met her grumpy cat that wasn’t social with anyone, but that was its personality. The next 2 days I spent the majority of my time tanning and working out at her gym. I was thinking “THIS IS THE LIFE.” I wouldn’t want to return to Chicago anytime soon. Then we dedicated a day for going to the theme parks. I was in major shock when she told us right before going that we were going to Magic Kingdom. I was not happy at all, but my mom was clearly excited because she was that kind of person who was

It was going to be difficult leaving the life we had living in the small town in the city of Nogales to living a different lifestyle in Phoenix. One of the most memorable moments I have experienced was four years ago, when I traveled from Matamoros, Tamaulipas to San Antonio, Texas. I had the opportunity of visiting San Antonio for the first time, and more importantly, of spending time with my family who I had not seen in years prior to the trip. Spending time with my family is of great value and importance to me, so I became utterly excited to see them as soon as I had the chance.…

The best trip I have ever went on was when my family and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My aunt was getting married and my mom’s side of the family was invited to come. We got to go on this vacation last February. We left very early one morning and we went to the airport. It was very cold and the air was very dry. We got to the airport in Sioux Falls and we went through security and waited to get on the plane. Once we finally got on the plane I was very excited to get there. We had a connection in Minneapolis and we had a direct flight from Minneapolis all the way to Punta Cana. Once we finally got to Punta Cana, we were getting off the plane and I could feel the humid, warm air. We had to wait in a very long line to go through customs. After that, we got on a taxi that took us to our resort. The roads in the Dominican Republic are not much different from the roads in the U.S. They still had stop lights, billboards, and the same traffic rules. One big difference we saw on the way to the…

It was the first time I had ever been to Reynosa, Mexico, and I was very excited as well as nervous about the trip. I planted a church in Texas and arranged to take a time of five people to go and build two houses. None of us spoke the language and would be completely dependent upon our interpreter for all communication. We were really not fully prepared for the amount of poverty we encountered just below the boarder of Mexico and America. The shanty town had no running water as well is little electrical power, it was like being thrown back in time.…

One warm summer day my family was frantically rushing to gather all our belongings for a week long adventure out west. We were trying our best to squeeze every item in the car; finally we were ready to depart from home. I was just fourteen years of age at the time and had never been more than a few states away. The ride there was beyond exciting, but extra long. I believe most of that was due to the anticipation of when we would finally reach the great state of Colorado.…

We drove down in separate cars from Kentucky enduring about thirteen long hours of “fun” with my immediate family. We finally arrive in animal kingdom where we are staying in one of the Disney hotels. We get to our room and get settled in when I look out on the balcony and see giraffes, and antelopes, and peacocks walking around in my back yard. It was one of my favorite parts of this trip. We then go out to wait for the bus to take us to our first kingdom, epcot. I remember immediately being here as a child and know exactly what I want to go and do and see. Now being seventeen, I take one of my cousins and we go off on our own to see what we want to experience. We go to the science museum and learn about space and evolution which has through my high school years been very beneficial to me. Having fun and learning at the same time was great. I spend the entire next day going around to all the rides and enjoying them at least two times each. I couldn’t believe how much fun I was having. After that I went to the stores and got all the things I wanted to take back home to remember this trip…

I remember that morning perfectly, Macy and I left to begin our road trip to the Florida Keys more specifically, Key West.We woke up at 5:00 am,and her grandparents were coming to pick us up at 5:30 to begin our trip.We went to bed late the previous night because we were just so excited to be going together. Talking about the pictures we were gonna take, the places we would go, the beach, shopping, and more. We were just so happy to be going.Since we were so tired, we barely made it out of bed. Rushing to brush our teeth, brush our hair, and get our bags all waiting by the door. Her grandparents were running behind a little, arriving at her house at 6:20 am.…

It was a scorching summer day in Las Vegas and my dad and I were meandering around the city in awe of the size of everything. We were acutely aware that we had overdressed for the weather, having just left a chilly Illinois. It was the hottest place to which I had ever been. The both of us, father and son, were going to meet up with my grandpa to go to the Grand Canyon for one of the greatest trips ever. We were going white water rafting on the Colorado River for eight days.…

We planned to move to Florida when school ended, so during the rest of the school year we were looking for a house, looking for a new school, and telling our family about the move. I never really found out a specific reason why we were moving to Florida, but that was a question on my mind. I did know that one of the reasons we were moving was because my mom wanted to be closer to her mom (my grandma).…

In the summer before 9th grade, things were not going great for my family and me, things in school had been very bad, and things at home and out of school were even worse. At the end of July my mother and I, were looking to go on a trip, to get our minds off of everything that had happened in the past year. We threw ideas around, like going to Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, and other nearby states to go sightseeing in. We had almost decided on going to Hershey, Pennsylvania, to go to the amusement park, and see other attractions for a few days, but while looking I saw an advertisement for Universal in Florida. I started looking at plane tickets, hotels, and rental cars. We found an awesome deal, and we booked it. I went to go talk to my friend Chris, on Facebook to tell him I was going, as a joke he said, “Take me too!” I told my mom what he said, she laughed and said “Why not?” I told him to convince his parents because we were leaving in 2 days. It took him a full day, but Wednesday night Chris and his mom showed up to my house with his bags packed ready to go to Florida.…
