The reason Roger Goodell placed this rule in the NFL was because he believed it would help make the game safer and promote more sportsmanship. “I believe that’s consistent with what we believe are the safety issues,” Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, said during his annual State of the League address two days before Super Bowl 50. “But I also believe it’s consistent with what we believe are the standards of sportsmanship that we’ve emphasized. Although it may make the game safer it only provides players with less opportunity for mistake and more pressure than they can handle. If they make two accidental fouls that don't even harm another player then why should they get punished. Since when has a player ever gotten hurt because of a false start. This rule is foolish and should not be used.

This rule should not be used because a player could have accidentally gotten a foul, could have too much adrenaline going through them, and the referee will be biased in making a decision on calling a foul or not calling
