Personal Legend Narrative

What is a personal legend? A personal legend is the path we decide to take that fills our hearts with enthusiasm; it is the path of our dreams. My personal legend has changed overtime. I have been influenced along my journey. I have also been faced with many obstacles, but I have still made movement with them there. I have learned many lessons along my journey, and I will continue to learn more. This is my personal legend, read on.
When I was a young child, maybe about three years old, I always had a interest and fascination with the kitchen. I was always banging on pots and pans, begging my mother to let me help prepare food. Even

When I was around the age of twelve, my sister started preparing and getting things ready for college. My sister was going to be studying to be an art education major, with a minor in photography. In many ways, my sister is one of the omens that changed my personal legend over time. I sometimes went with her on her college visits and I always fell in love with the design aspects of some of the schools. My sister was always a great artist and I admired her very much. By growing up with her and being close, I was able to learn some of her techniques and some of her must have rubbed off on me. My sister was a huge influence on me. As my interest grew in the design world, I realized what type of design I wanted to pursue. The design that really caught and captivated me was graphic design. I found that I loved it for the same reason I loved cooking, which was you could combine ideas and create something your …show more content…

One of my obstacles is school. While I am at school for almost seven hours a day, I could instead be practicing my graphic design work. I could be one the best and youngest graphic designers of our time, if only it wasn’t for school. Another obstacle I have faced is my age. Most advertisement and design firms will not take a fifteen year old seriously when it comes to graphic design. As soon as they hear that age number, they are instantly turned off and don’t even care to see my work. But they are wrong, young people are among some of the most creative in the world. I have also faced the problem of money. I do not have the money to spend on the whole Adobe Creative Suite, which would cost probably over one thousand dollars! My parents have the money to spend on it, but I would never put that expense on them and they would never spoil me rotten like that. I have Psychological obstacles too. I sometimes think and wonder about my personal legend. I asked myself, “Do I want to do this as a profession?” “Is this really my personal legend, or is it masking something else?” and “will I be taken

My father’s parents were born in a small village in the Peloponnese. They were kind and humble people that eventually made their way to Athens. My mother’s parents were born in Kafkaso, a town in Minor Asia, which at that time belonged to Greece. With the war of 1921, the Turks forced my mother’s parents to flee to Athens. They were wealthy and proud, as were many Pontian Greeks at that time. Both of my parents were born in Athens in the fifties. My mother left Athens in 1969, America bound and my father followed soon after.…

Have you ever wondered where you would be if you would have chosen another path? Have you ever wondered how that choice could have changed your life if you would have made it? Whether they are good or bad they still come back to me. Everything we do is based upon choices. After we make those choices there comes consequences. We can never decide our consequences, they just come.…

On September 8th 1990, it was a hot sunny day in the city of Cali, Colombia. Temperature around 88°F with very low humidity, normal for that time of year, since the summer was about to begin. A sky full of altocumulus clouds cooled the estimated population of about 1.7 million people ("1990 population estimate for Cali, Colombia."). Among that population there was my mother. Already late for her gynecology appointment, inconveniently causes by a car accident, she would shortly find out when I would be entering the world. The accident turned a 20-minute drive in a 45-minute drive. Rushing into the clinic, as the doctor’s assistant was calling her name, she rapidly was taken to the back to speak with the provider. When the doctor came into the room he calmly said, “I have good news, and bad news”. My mom’s heart already racing she decided to go with the bad news first. “The probability of being a complicated birth is pretty high, which means the surgical team will have to perform a cesarean section instead of a vaginal birth”. My mother relived thinking it would be something much worse she asked the doctor to go ahead with the good news. “The baby will probably be arriving today”. My mom became frantic, “that’s the good news? They might as well both have been bad! My mother panicked, she had nothing ready for the birth, since her first child was not due for another 10 days. Her hormone levels raging at an all time sky high, she shortly began to cry. The doctor and his staff hugged her and reassured her that everything was going to be ok. They quickly rushed her to the hospital where they would have all the equipment in the event that there were any major complications. Once she was all settled in, the operating room staff started to prepare for the birth around 3:15 P.M. The staff thought I was ready to come out, however I took another three hours to make my grand appearance. At 6:23 PM I arrived spreading my arms and legs with a…

There have been some challenges with drawing. For one, I got what seems to be a pretty late start, only starting to really draw my freshman year of high school, and while that may seem young to some, it seems like usually, people start to draw or to make comics when they are still in middle school. So when I did draw, it always seemed like my drawings were “falling behind” the drawings other artists of my own age group had created. After I had finished drawing something, I was always so proud of it… up until I visited the internet and saw all of the drawings that were so much better.…

What comes to your mind when you hear the word hero? My kind of hero is one that will try as hard as they can even if they know they can’t do anything to help it or make it better. And when I think of a hero I think of a very strong special somebody that will do anything for anyone just to consider there feelings. My kind of hero is my little man Wyatt.…

Some of the earliest reading memories I have come from reading flashcards with basic words on them, reading closed captions on cartoons (something I still utilize to this day,) and being read to by my mother and preschool teachers. A memory I remember in vivid detail (which is one of my earliest memories) is sitting in the lap of one of the preschool assistants (Jan) as she was reading to me. I do not remember what book it was, however, I do remember I was wearing a sweatshirt and my pink snowboots. I have a picture of this in a preschool scrapbook. Another one of my early reading memories is watching Timon and Pumbaa and singing along to the theme song as I read the closed captions. My mother came in when she heard me singing the word “philosophy” and I gave her a look that said “What is that face for?”…

Camera techniques have been used in many different ways. There was a variety of camera shots such as; extreme long shots, long shots, medium long shots, medium shots, medium close-up, close-up, big close-up and extreme close-up. At the end of the movie, Molly and Daisy are shown in a long shot with a scenic view of Jigalong in the background. By being able to see the background, you can tell that they are back home. At some point in the movie there is also a big close up of Mr Neville. Since Mr Neville looks much large in the close up, we believe that he is much bigger than ourselves and that he is much more powerful. During this scene a low angle shot is used so that Mr Neville appears more intimidating and to make the audience feel small.…

Personal background starts off small, it changes and grows over time into something big, it grows into an identity. Walking down the hallway at school, seeing someone standing alone, my first instinct is to make conversation, compliment, or even just smile at him or her. This instinct came from someone once telling me an act so small could turn a person's entire life around. As a kid, reading encyclopedias about random topics, consumed my time. Many days were spent coming home to find an injured wild animal in my dad's arms waiting to be saved. My dad would sit outside and draw animals, trees, and anything else he saw. Nothing excited me more than trying to draw whatever my dad drew, and as good as he did. Any assignment that was handed to…

In life, it is common for humans to achieve certain feats in order for their name to be immortalized, and to create a legacy that will extend far beyond their mortal years. Some people will base their entire life around trying to be remembered somehow, whether it be by creating a beautiful piece of artwork, being a teacher every students loves and remembers, or being the best actor of a certain generation. A great example of this is shown through Harry, the protagonist of Ernest Hemingway’s The Snows of Kilimanjaro where we are presented with a character who yearns to be remembered by writing about some of things he has had to live though. However, while on his death bed, Harry realizes he never got a chance to write all the stories that…

Paulo Coelho first covers the topic of personal legends in his novel. As mentioned in The Alchemist, “It’s [a personal legend] what you have always wanted to accomplish”(Coelho, pg. 21). Everyone has a personal legend, but with age comes the dying off of a dream, a dream that once shaped your life. As people get older, they begin losing sight of their personal legend, not because they forget about it, but because they lack the motivation. They lack the drive to figure out their destiny or what their life was meant for. Often people start to fulfill their personal…
