I began working when I was 14. My first babysitting job was for my newly divorced neighbor with a one month old baby named Alexa. I loved being able to give Alexa's mother, Brianna, some time to go out with her friends and relax. However, Alexa was just the tip of the iceberg for my career as a babysitter. Since then I have nannied and babysat for a variety of families ranging from ages 2 weeks to 14 years old. During the summer of 2016 I began nannying for a family with two middle school girls. I enjoyed being with children so much that my first “real-world” paying job was at a summer camp. Between volunteering at the church Vacation Bible School and working at the summer camp I realized I have a great connection with children and can help make a difference in their lives and that is what I seek to do. We were proven right when she failed to advance from kindergarten and was deemed to suffer from intellectual disabilities. As a child protective services worker, when interacting with a hostile, resistant or non -voluntary client, I would use several techniques to build rapport and engage the client in working with the agency. Being a social worker for the last ten years, and having four years of direct experience in child protect services, I have come across many reluctant clients. I learned very quickly that rapport is the foundation to any service provider in the social work field. Upon a first visit with a client, one needs to remember that you do not know them any more than they know you. You, are also a stranger coming into their home, and need to respect their home, as well as, the situation they are experiencing. It is very common to see a hostile and/or resistant client in the beginning of services.…

While I was working there I thought it was what I wanted, but as time progressed I realized it may not be for me. I had been out of school for 2 years when I accepted this job, so I wasn’t quite sure as to what career path I wanted to take. My decision at the time was to work full time and remain productive with that. Sometime you have to make a few changes within in yourself in order to grow as a person. This caused me to be a pretty big baby at birth, I was ten pounds eight ounces and was about twenty-four inches. Needless to say I was a pretty big baby and that didn’t stop within the first few years. I remember looking at pictures of me with my older brother who was a few years older than me and we looked like we could be twins. A lot of times our mother was asked if we were twins.…
