of his assignments and complete them at the last minute. This created a snowball effect to the point where he eventually did not do anything his teacher assigned him. He failed his first college class, because he procrastinated all of his work. When someone walks into a college classroom, they must be ready to learn. They must actually try to pass the class. The student must use the resources the teacher may give them. When a teacher tells a student to read a specific chapter in a book, the student must do it. If they want to further themselves, they cannot expect to be lazy and not do work. The best advice that I can give someone is to try their best. If someone is trying their best still not understanding the information, at least the student can walk away from the class, and understand that they gave it everything they had. They tried there best, and there is no shame in that. In some cases, a professor may see how hard someone is trying and help them understand the material presented to them.
When I started college, I used the advice my father gave me. He told me to “Finish all of your work, do not be lazy, and be all you can be.” Whether it is a students first time in college, or their last, they can benefit from this advice. If a student wants to succeed at college, these three things are very important.
