I was thinking to myself why would a band name them selves after a location of the lateral ventricle in the brain. The name Hippocampus sounded absurdly strange to me, and not in the slightest form appealing. I rode in the gold 1999 Monte Carlo with a dent in the side, sitting in a shaking earthquake due to the sub woofer in the back. My brother Jon revealed one of the exotic bands songs, and the lyrics made an extremely lack of sense to me. I found myself against the fact that Jon wants me to go to the concert with him. I couldn’t possibly imagine myself in front of this unique inhumane music. I was unaware of the significance Hippocampus had in my future, I was as blind as a bat. “Trust me it will be Immense fun Nick, you wont regret visiting Duluth for a weekend” Jon persuaded one trillion times. I glanced out of the crystal clear window of the vehicle to witness the innocent picture perfect weather that was available to me on the summer July day. I began to paint an image of the pier of the glistening blue Lake Superior and how beautiful it could be. I realize that I would be irrational to deny this opportunity, and I thought about all the exhilarating activities that would be involved. I thanked Jon again, again, and again, I was so glad I gave Hippocampus a chance. I learned the super important lesson to not judge a book by its cover, and to give people a chance. I am so thankful for the weekend of lifetime that made my summer much more monumental. If I hadn’t accepted my brother Jon’s offer, than I wouldn’t be jamming to Hippocampus in my car driving down the open highway feeling as free as an American
