Personal Narrative: A Trip To A Baseball Team
he bell rang and we race to our cars. My team and I very happy knowing we had a chance of being champions. The whole school behind us cheering us on. From City University To Hamilton Middle School Chris, Aaron, Terrell, and myself smiling from cheek to cheek. We got to Hamilton and we gear up. I threw my catcher bag over my shoulder and called for the team to line up. Coach Avent ad Coach Blake started prayer. After they looked up and said “ We been preparing for this day all year.” Knowing everything the team had been through the last season before, no one would have ever thought the Hamilton Wildcats would be in the City Champion Game. No one would've ever through the Hamilton Wildcats would’ve had the season we had. Only losing one game …show more content…
The girl softball team had loaded first although they got put out they still was there for us. Team leader in the front of the bus and the rest filled in. The ride to the field was quite. No one talked at all during the trip to the baseball field. The bus was the place to prepare yourself. What I mean by that is the bus was for you to get your mind forced on the game of baseball. The bus was not the time to think about what you going to eat for dinner or the girl you talked to that day. Once you stepped foot on that bus it was baseball time. With us being the number 1 seed going to the champion game we had a lot of support. We had a lot of hater as well …show more content…
My father, Coach Blake, told me to start the game off the right way and I did. The first pitch I hit deep in the outfield and got a triple. The team follow in them steps. The score of the game was our 8 to there 4. Then the team got cocky. That was a really bad idea through. We started to play horrible. We wasn’t getting on base nor playing good defense. The other team took over. Now the game was tied 8-8 and the game was coming to an end. It was our time to bat and we fail to score. It went three up three down. All we need was at least one person to hit and I would’ve hit again. All both Coach wanted was to get Torin and Me to hit. It fail to happen and now it was the other team turn to hit. The bases was load and they had two outs. One more out and we got another chance. Coach moved me from to catcher to pitcher and the pitcher to catcher. I throw the ball and the batter hit it down the third base line and they score. The game was over. We lose 9-8. The whole team was mad but there was no one to be at but ourselves. We stop playing our ball and it cause us to lose the game. That day was an eye opener for me. I learn that day to never get rap up in the glory because anything can taking away in seconds. I learn to always work hard at something you want. If you want something you must go out and handle your business. Once you get to top never stop working keep working and striving to be better. Even if you're the best still push and

Everybody from the team was there at the field. If you looked at our team you might think that we were just a bunch of small town screw-offs. We definitely gave the other team that impression as we warmed up. Our team didn’t take things too seriously. In the batting cages, we practiced our home run swings, and trots. The infielders, including me, bare handed the ground balls hit to us by one of the coaches, and jump threw the ball back to the first baseman pretending we were young Derek Jeters. The outfield dove at every ball that was hit at them. Even if the ball was coming straight at them, they ran back and come forward again so they could dive and get the ball. Yes, we were a bunch of…

The team would always get there an hour early so we could stretch and hit in the cage. We were noticeably the best team in the tournament. The coach of the team was a smart guy, he wanted to win but he didn’t want to embarrass anybody. This game didn’t really mean anything, and not to mention we were playing the worst team there.…

And to finish up that inning we just got a couple ground balls and we turned a double play. And for the next few innings nothing really happened both teams were struggling to hit. Now it's like the 5th inning and we have the top of our hitting order up so we had:Liam,Luke,Ryan,Alex as our 1,2,3,4 hitters. And we got a rally going and we scored a couple runs so at this point the score is 5-1 and we have the lead so then I go into the 6th inning to pitch and I can only do ⅔ of the inning so than Ryan comes in and pitches and to finish out the 7th Alex pitches a 3 strikeout inning. So the game was over and the presedent of the league gave me the game ball to keep and bring home and everyone on our team got a trophy to take home after we won we were all so happy that we won the championship because it was or a lot of people the first time they won something. The…

It was a chilly morning as the girls showed up to the field. There was a slight breeze, the noise of trees rustling and cleats on concrete filled the player's ears. The smell of hotdogs and hamburgers filled the girl’s noses as they were walking towards the field. They had home field advantage, and everyone knew they always won when they were home. The Infield Diamonds; they were the team to beat. With Julia, their star player at first base; Emily at second base; Hailey at shortstop; Mackenzie at third base;…

Softball isn’t just a sport, it’s a passion. Last year, in a softball game, I tripped and cause us to get all three outs. My team, as well as my coach, was very upset. As a consequence, I sat the next two innings out. Sitting alone and thinking about how my mistake could cost us the game, I felt as though I needed to prove to my team that I didn’t mean to and that I could help get the game back. I finally convinced my coach to let me back in the game. An inning had gone by I still hadn’t proven myself. I was getting nervous. Bottom of the ninth, my chance came. Playing shortstop, a ground ball was headed straight for me. I caught it, and threw it to first. First then through it to third, and I tagged the runner coming from second base. A triple play! We were three points ahead and had won the game. I had such a feeling of self-accomplishment and pride. I had proven to the team that I was a…

Despite all the high hopes and expectations, our season was over before it even began. Our season first began with a crucial home game, as this first game would set the tone for the entire season. I remember that it was a dark and cold, autumn afternoon and we were prepared to fight until the last second. We exited our locker room after a long pep talk from our coach Mr. Barton, who loved us greatly and had been coaching us for the past two…

I was already mad when going to practice that day because the whole day was going badly for me. When practice started, Interested in it. It was like I was just out of it that day, so I didn’t take it lightly when my coach yelled at me. My coach was 5’6”, with a bald head, light skin, and a grey and black goatee, and he could yell louder than most people. I had an attitude problem, and that day, all of it just came out of me. I knew something bad was going to happen that day; I felt it in my bones. I argued with another coach before my positions coach put me in my place. I argued with the first coach because I didn’t like what he was saying to me at the time. The first coach was telling me that he can move me back down to the junior varsity team, and I told him that he couldn’t do anything to me because he doesn’t have as much seniority as the others coaches have. I told him he was a has-been, and once I said that, the running backs coach called me over.…

Without that day, I would not be here playing basketball on a scholarship for Wheeling Jesuit University. That day taught me so much. I came into that basketball tryout overconfident, like I had made the team already because I thought I was that good. In eighth grade I was the man in basketball. I could not be stopped. I was always the first one picked and always got the ball whenever I wanted because my teammates knew I could score. When I got into the basketball tryout though, everybody was good and I should have worked twice as hard as I did. This meant that everyone was one step ahead of me, quicker than me, faster than me, and stronger that me. Even though I was devastated about being cut from the team, the experience taught me not to be overconfident, work harder, and always go into something knowing I have to prove myself.…

The sun was bearing down on us as we left the bus. As usual, we were early, perhaps even earlier today. It was an important match, the one which would decide whether we went home with the championship trophy. My heart was thumping as we started our routine warm-up for the game. As I watched my teammates doing their own warm-ups, doubts and long-drawn anxieties floated around in my mind. Am I worthy to lead this team of talented individuals? Would someone else have done a better job than me? What if we lose today? If I had articulated my thoughts, I am sure everyone would have shushed me up, fearing that it would affect the team morale. However, I knew that they were all sharing the same thoughts as me. It was quieter than usual, without the usual chit chat that we were accustomed to. The air resonated with words unspoken. As the hall started to fill with supporters, both for and against us, I suddenly felt a sense of peace, peace that I could not explain. Suddenly it did not matter if we won or lost, did not matter if we took home the gold or silver medal. Back then, I thought it was because I had already resigned myself to fate and accepted that the chances of us losing were a lot higher than that of us not. I thought that it was my heart's way of steeling itself against the disappointment of a possible defeat. Upon introspect, I realize now that it was the knowledge that I had taken away so much from the season that made that final match so minute, so insignificant.…

Walking towards what is considered a second home hours before the championship game even begins yields nothing but complete silence. The freshly- cut, green grass in the outfield glistens from its daily dosage of morning dew. A bare, dirt-covered infield yearns to be lined with fresh, white chalk. No boisterous fans are screaming, no coaches are instructing, and no teammates are cheering. Everything is still as I step onto the softball field and begin to imagine and prepare for what is to come in only a matter of hours. After walking around the field several times, I return home to change into my favorite outfit: two long, navy-blue socks, a pair of white softball pants, and a navy-blue, short-sleeved buttoned-up shirt with the number ten on the back in white numerals.…
