Personal Narrative: Clean Up At The Fairgrounds
To start off the day I had to go clean up at the fairgrounds. When people show an animal in the fair that is also sold everyone has to get up super early to “do your duty”. The only reason the kids have to do this is so they can get their check. It's usually not so bad but this time it was different. The rain seemed to be never ending. The pavilion was crammed with all kinds of people trying to stay dry. Unlike everyone else i was one of the few who decided to help so i could get my check and go on my way. My job was to carry these grey metal chairs out of this soping wet trailer. Now on any other day i would have loved to “play” in the rain, but i was wearing athletic shorts, boots, and an old t-shirt, and it was windy. When i finally sat down and decided i was done and it was one of the …show more content…
At this point i was getting very mad at the kids complaining they were cold and haven't even set foot in the rain once. On the other hand i was drenched, not even my socks were dry, I felt like a ice cube. One of the adults stood on a table yelling, trying to get everyone's attention, that once the track was clean, everyone can get their check and leave. When everything was clean and all the trash picked up, everyone got their checks.

I got mine and all i could think of was how awesome my first vacation would be. Now i was off to go pick up my best friend, she was going with us. I got to her house and she was sitting on her porch waiting for me to get there. When i pulled up in the driveway, she yells “THIS IS GOING TO BE A GREAT VACATION!”. We get finally get to my house, my parents had the trunk so full i thought it was going to burst. Me and my friend Belle try shoving our bags in, they would barely fit. So i ask my mom if she needed to bring the whole house

I walked into the doors of Statehouse Expo Center, my feet walking with the sound of my bag rolling over the little cracks on the light floor tile, my white uniform as crisp as a fall breeze. With every step further, I could see more people. Lots more people. The mats filled with people. People who spend their whole lives working to be where they are, on those mats. Sparring, combat, weapons and forms. XMA in one corner, Black Belts in another corner, everyone else in a corner and staging in a corner. All surrounded by a Sr. Master or the occasional Master. When we get to a tournament, our team always meets up. Then all the kids go explore. We found our team and all the kids put away their IPads and Kindle Fires.…

Dad said midnight and unless Darrell could fly, I was headed for real trouble. Darrell and I chose to go to county fair and like every cliché couple, we had it set to go at sundown in order to get the perfect Instagram post. Luminous pinks, yellows, and blues sparkled a mile out as we caught our exit to enter the fair grounds. Vibrations under our toes grew heavier and heavier as we got closer to the entrance and with a $12 stamp on our right hand we ventured out on running feet. We spent our night soaring high and low with dangling feet, carrying weightless bags of fluffy, crystallized sugar as heavy gusts of wind hosed us leaving the aroma of fresh, crisp funnel cakes. Captivated by parading aisles of games had us lose complete track of time.…

The hot sun was beating down on my neck as I was picking weeds in a field. The humidity is so thick you could cut it with a knife. The smell of grass was in the air. My soft hands were getting blistered. My skin had been browned as it was covered in dirt. I hated my parents for making me do this. A man comes over and asks me to make sure that I don’t miss any. This man was my grandfather. My parents had me dropped me off while they were at my sister's softball game. I was stuck working with my grandfather for the day. He had owned two houses right next to each other, each with a large lot that needed to be maintained. There was a lot of weeds to be picked. This scene happened all too often when I was younger. I did not like this at the time and hated my parents for making me do this work. But working with my grandfather taught me character and work ethic. He himself was a hard worker and wanted me to be like him. I did not understand this at the time and just did not want to be there. In the long run I learned a lot of valuable skills from my grandfather and he became one my most influential role models.…

It was just a boring day in my hometown, a traditional, weak entrance a lot of narrative stories use to try to get the attention of the readers. This story, however, isn’t one of those traditional stories; this one involves a day that had been exciting up to that point already. The memory that resonates daily throughout my mind would have to be the time when I went to Six Flags for the first time in my life. Before I jump into my story, I should tell you my friends mess with each other a lot, almost to the point where we get into fights with each other.…

I had just gotten home from school and I was carrying a small bag of presents my two closest friends gifted me. That day started off better than any of my other birthday’s by said friends decorating my locker as a surprise. I remember stepping into the living room and instantly facing a 180 mood swing. I was having that feeling you get when you’re excited to eat leftovers of your favorite food, but then quickly remember the food was never there. Meanwhile, my Mom was feeling a typical case of motherly nosiness and asked what was inside the bag.…

I have the experience of volunteering for two times. Both schools that I went to are very poor school as most of students come from neighbor countries such as Myanmar and Cambodia, whom their parents immigrate illegally to Thailand for working opportunity. Also the school director tries to help this children by give them opportunity to study without tuitions fee, which is make financial support from the government is not enough. Therefore, my friends and I went to give the necessary stuffs such as sport facilities and some amount of money that my friends and I did the donation from kind-hearted people. We also educated them in various topics such as teach them English daily use sentences and basic economics in term of how to saving. When I had first volunteered at a preparatory school as a teacher’s assistant, I was thrilled and excited. I enjoyed working with children and I admit, was slightly disillusioned with expectations that the children would be dutiful and effortless to watch over. Unfortunately, all my prior imaginations crashed the second I entered the classroom. Everywhere I saw, it was pure chaos. I dodged a flying crayon as I saw children running around throwing paper airplanes, balls, while others just stared at their iPads, focused on the latest game. Not a single one of them even listened to me or glanced at me as I tried to yell over the loud chatter.…

Carefully, with a shaky hand, I successfully inserted an insulin pump into my left thigh. I counted every carbohydrate I ate and timidly calculated my carbohydrate/insulin ratio. The liquid I was distributing throughout my body was not in fact insulin, but saline. Volunteering as a diet aide at Camp Carefree, a children’s summer camp for type one diabetics, gave me the opportunity to know what it felt like to step into these innocent children’s shoes.…

Where I just feed the animals, and run in the morning, ended being one of the saddest day I had ever experience because I saw how people with little to almost nothing gave everything they had just get a shot at being able to overcome themselves. Not doing it for the money to be kept for themselves but to be able to give back to their family’s members. But one thing that really stood out from what they said and did was the trying hard even though they didn’t know what the outcome was going to be they still tried anyways. With that said it really influenced my life by making me rethink have I been trying hard enough? Have I been giving my all even if it might not turn out as I planned? Or do I simply settle for the…
