There's nothing like catching clay in under the lights. The races are the best place to have a good time. The summer of 2017 taught me a lot about being prepared, racecars and racing. We left my Dad's shop at 5:45 to give us plenty of time to get to the track. We stopped at Bucee's to get fuel for the load.We left early because you have to go down 34 to county road 1903 and the track is about 2 miles on your left. I've always had a good time hauling the race car trailer. We got there about 6:30.We waited a little bit to start unloading. My Dad had to go do something before coming so we waited to unload. We started unloading after about 15 minutes and getting the car ready to hot lap.My Dad got there and I put my fire suit on and

Daytona Beach is known for NASCAR, “the world center of racing.” However, most people are oblivious to the fact that NASCAR started on the beach of Daytona. “In 1903, the beach became a mecca for racing enthusiasts.” While professional drivers stick to the race track, the norm of people…

It’s fourth and nineteen, Tampa Bay’s special teams unit comes on, trying to pin Carolina deep in their own territory. “Hike!” It’s a fake! Tampa Bay’s punter drops back. He finds a double covered, third string running back streaking down the field. He throws the ball as hard as he can. The ball travels a total of three yards before an oncoming Julius Peppers snags it out of the air. “Interception! He’s at the thirty. The twenty. The ten. He could go all the way! Touchdown!” This was the play that capped off my brothers 56-0 beat-down of me in our Blackfoot cousins Madden tournament. Taking a moment to comprehend what had just happened, I stared at the screen in disbelief. The entire ensuing minute was madness. “You cheated!”, “That would…

The recent summer rainstorms have transformed the roadways, of Wrongberight a rural hamlet on the eastern shores of Virginia, into a never-ending slip and slide. Late Saturday afternoon, vivacious Clemmy Sue Jarvis, a petite woman of sixty three, cautiously pulled out of her driveway, and slowly turned south on to Flat Bottom Road. She maneuvered the rain soaked road with great care. Nevertheless, fifty yards from her dearest friend Estelle Louise’s long dirt driveway, her rusty Chevy pickup, that she has kept mobile for years with hairpins, bubble gum, and duct tape, skidded across a massive oil slick. As a result, the pickup spins in wide circles as…

As a little girl I always sat and thought about what I wanted to be when I grow up. I could never really come up with an answer but I always knew that I wanted to help little kids because I love little kids they are so little and adorable with a bright future ahead of them, that's just a passion i've always had. I also knew that I somewhat wanted to go inside of the medical field as well. At first I wanted to be a Nurse , Pediatrician, Doctor and so many different things. So one day I was watching an old movie with Queen Latifah and Common named “Just Wright”. In the movie Common was an basketball player and Queen Latifah was an physical therapist. As I continued to watch the movie I kind of enjoy what she was doing and I found interest in…

I went with my grandma, my grandpa, my Uncle Dave, my cousin Paige, my cousin Alyssa, and Alyssa's friend Monica. My grandma and grandpa rode in a purple Toyota Sienna minivan. Uncle Dave, Alyssa, Monica, Paige, and I rode in a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Paige streamed music to the truck using Blue tooth. By my accounting, it would take us about 8 hours to reach our destination, so our plan was to be on the trail by no later than 11 AM, which would give us sufficient time to comfortably hike the ten miles to campsite 98, set up our equipment and have a meal well before nightfall. Since the hike did not include any major elevation changes, I felt that this was more than sufficient time, even allowing for a minor setback or two, and a general slowdown because of the extra effort to carry the backpacks. As was so typical when hiking or traveling with my daughter, we were still packing our packs in our motel room in Pigeon Forge at 11 AM.…
